I highly believe in the word of God. I believe in making the word of God my own. And of course doing good works is not going to get you into heaven, but good works should come out of you as a result of being Christian.
Before we get into this topic, let’s have our moment of silence.
At this time, I would like all of us to take a moment of silence and pray to God to help us to become the people that he wants us to become. Take a minimum of 5 minutes and pray to God for these things.
Now back to the show
Philanthropy
1 Timothy 6:18, “That they do good and that they be rich in good works, ready to distribute, willing to communicate;”
also , Deuteronomy 15:7 and 8, “If there be among you a poor man of one of thy brethren within any of thy gates in thy land which the Lord thy God giveth thee, thou shalt not harden thine heart nor shut thine hand from thy poor brother. But thou shalt open thine hand wide unto him, and shalt surely lend him sufficient for his need, in that which he wanteth.”
So I feel like there’s a debate with who should help the poor.
Like people will often say that the government already helps the poor and that the poor need no more help.
However, there are people out there that say that individual wealthy people should help the poor, that way, the people that can pay for the help of the poor are the ones that are helping the poor.
And if one in every wealthy person goes and helps some people that are poor, then this world would be okay because then the wealthy people would be helping the poor and the poor would just get better in life.
So let’s talk about this for a second.
I don’t mind paying taxes to help the poor
I don’t personally mind paying taxes in order to help the poor. I don’t mind helping a family if they are struggling to get by.
The problem is if a single dude doesn’t want to work and he just wants to live off of the government.
I understand cases of when someone is so mentally unstable or physically incapable of working.
But there has to be a way to figure out if someone is just lying about their condition or if they’re telling the truth.
Because if you’re lying about your condition or just don’t want to work, then you’re taking away from the poor and that’s not right.
God also asked us to work and we can’t ignore that!
I don’t personally believe that the bible condemns taxes, as a matter of fact I think that it says that it’s okay.
But I do know that the bible says that we as a people should take it upon ourselves to help the poor on our own.
Meaning that we should help the poor without the need of a reward from anybody.
HOWEVER, there is a big HOWEVER, God has a promise that he does to those that do good. Galatians 6:9 states, “And let us not be weary in well doing:for in due season we shall reap, if we faith not.” KJV
That means that we will reap rewards.
And I know what you’re thinking, you’re thinking that we will reap rewards in heaven.
Well that is true, we will reap rewards in heaven, but we will also reap rewards here on earth.
Trust that God knows our hearts. God knows that we want rewards. God knows that we seek fulfillment in our lives, so trust that God will give us the things of our hearts if we so decide him
So I believe in giving to the poor
So I believe in giving to the poor. Trust in God that your good works will give you abundantly for the life that you live. And God will be the one to guide you into a future that is full of love.
The bible says in Proverbs 10:16, “The Labor of the righteous tendeth only to life. The fruit of the wicked to sin.”
So I know that it could be a little difficult for you to give to the poor at first, but take your first step and start by giving a dollar, then two, then a food tray, then a blanket, then something more. Give to the poor and God will be the one who will reward you. Remember to trust in God not in me about this.
