Hey everyone! So today, I’m going to share with you all how to become a producer.
Before we get started, let’s have our moment of silence.
At this time I would like all of us to take a moment of silence and pray to God to help us love one another. Ask God to help us to do the difficult things in life. Take a minimum of 5 minutes and ask for these things.
Now back to the show
How to become a producer
A producer is someone who does most of the leg work in a song. What will happen is that a songwriter will approach a producer in order for the producer to fully develop a song.
The producer will then add orchestras, bands, other instrumentalists in order to make the song sound completely full.
But how do you become a producer?
- Learn the piano. The piano is actually needed in order to become a producer. It is a rhythm instrument that can play a wide variety of rhythms. Plus, a MIDI resembles greatly to a piano. You use MIDIS to create different patterns of chords and melodies in a DAW.
- Produce some of your own tracks yourself. When you are trying to get a gig as a producer, people want someone who is experienced, probably has the education, and has the certificates to match what you are trying to give to them. So a good way to start out producing music, is to produce your own music. No one can tell you that you can’t use it to show off to you clients, and no one can copyright it except of course you. And If you mess up, no one is going to yell at you.
- Get educated. It’s a big skill in order to become a producer. A lot of people want a good producer who will take their music to the next level. So, it’s best that you get the proper certificates in order to become the producer that you want to become. There are a lot of good producing certificates on the internet, but also your local recording studio might have classes available to get those certificates.
- Practice makes perfect. Now it’s time to practice what you’ve learned. Take time out of your day to perfect your producing skills. They will come in handy in your music career.
What about marketing? What about websites? What about spreading the word about your music?
Those are all valid points, however, if you’re reading this, I assume that you’re not an established producer already. Which means that none of those things above matter because your product isn’t really up to par just yet.
I’m not trying to insult you, but you have to ride with the ponies before you get on the bulls.
