Hey everyone! So today, I want to talk about whether or not you are answering the Lord’s calling.
Before we get into it, let’s have our moment of silence.
At this time, I would like all of us to take a moment of silence and pray to God to help us to become the people that he wants us to become. Take a minimum of 5 minutes to pray for these things.
Now back to the show
Are you answering the Lord’s calling?
If that answer is yes, then congratulations, you know already what you are supposed to do in life. If that answer is no, well then it’s time that we look further deeper into it.
Even if you did say yes, you might be wondering about different decisions that you have to make in life.
It could be a career change, going back to school, working harder at work. Or it could be something more personal like getting married or how to tell your son that he’s not doing something right.
Whatever it is that you need to do, I have some tips that will help you to discern what God wants you to do.
Let’s get started
For work
This is my personal opinion, and the reason why I have this opinion is because a multitude of people have told me the same thing including the preachers in my life who were most influential.
They told me that my calling for work were the things that I’m good at.
I need to do the things that I’m good at for work because God has given me those talents for a reason.
God does not give talents for vain purposes.
That’s what everyone has told me.
And often, even at the beginning of my whole music endeavor, people were telling me that I was gifted with music. People were telling me that I had a natural talent for music which a lot of people just didn’t have.
When I was mid-career, and even sometimes I still agree, that all you have to do to get good at music is to work hard at it.
That’s it, I didn’t think much of it then because I thought that all people had to do in order to get good at music was to work hard at practicing it.
Because that’s all I did.
But in a way, it is a gift. I mean at a young age, you are supposed to do something that not even old people do. At a young age, you are expected to work hard like it’s your job and at that time, a lot of kids are more concerned about playing video games, basketball, partying, socializing, boyfriends or girlfriends, etc. etc.
I’m not saying that basketball is bad, but I’m trying to say that many people have different interests that have nothing to do with music.
And not only that, but you have to have a level of commitment that only adults have. You have to be committed for years in music before you reap any rewards. How can kids who are poor or neglected by their families possibly have the mindset to do something as good at music, it was literally none other than God.
And so, God gave me music, and so I believe that I’m supposed to do music as my career. I don’t know how God is going to do it, but he will one day.
For marriage and life
For this one, I would have to say you need to consult with the bible about your spouse.
Why? Because your spouse will be perfect for you if you just have God.
If you have God, then your spouse will have God because that’s a successful marriage waiting to happen.
You have to read what the bible says about finding a spouse.
The bible will often say things like she need to have God, husbands love your wife, and children obey your parents.
If you read those and they make sense to you, then you know that God is true because he was the one who said it and not you.
What if I’m not good at anything?
There is a verse in the bible and it states in proverbs 14:23, “In all labor there is profit.” So really, you have it easy, pick something that you think you could do, and just do it. Why? Because no matter what you’ll do, you’re going to make a good wage doing it.
I know that it’s hard to believe, but let me ask you this, What field can you go into and not make a lot of money?
There are people out there who get paid MAD MONEY in order to hug, did you know that?
There are people out there who get paid to write on the internet (sounds good to me!)
There are people who get paid to sing, write, dance, act, participate in politics, teach, you can make a great living teaching for universities, You can make great money teaching music on the internet, there people who make millions cooking, literally you name it and people make a lot of money off of it.
So there’s a challenge for you, give me something that you can’t make a lot of money by doing it, God is the one who said it, not me.
What if I can’t find love?
You can find love, You can find people to be with, you can find hope and courage and life. It’s just that all of those things reside with God.
All of the good things in life reside with God, so you’re going to have to be with God!
I’m not trying to fry you or anything, but without God, life is really pointless.
I’m not trying to sound depressed either because I really am happy!
