A humbling moment in music

Hey everyone! Today I’m going to share with you all a moment that just happened recently that honestly was a bit of a slap in the face. 

It’s not a slap in the face but more so of a humbling, learning opportunity. 

Before we get into this topic, let’s have our moment of silence. 

At this time, I would like all of us to take a moment of silence and pray to God to help us to become the people that he wants us to become. Ask God to make us graceful in defeat and humble in victory because ultimately that’s the best way that we should take things.

The humbling moment

You know, that God does lift up the humble. God does have rewards for them that are humble and that’s actually a promise that he made with us. 

And that’s not just in heaven where we will see our rewards. 

We see our rewards here on earth too if we just follow God with all our hearts. 

So let me share with you all my humbling moment. 

Actually my God humbled me in music, that’s right music! The topic that I’m so confident about, God decided to humble me in it. 

Let’s talk about it.

Music theory

I was actually doing some research for today’s blog post. I was going to make today’s blog post about music or music theory. 

And so I started reading some music blogs and looking at videos and I stumbled across this music blog that had a wealth of information on it. 

And then, it had one video that really showed me that I don’t know much about music theory. 

All this time, I was thinking to  myself that I was the king of music theory. 

I was thinking to myself that I know everything that there is to know about music theory. 

However, I really don’t. 

This video brought attention to my eyes things that I really didn’t know. 

And honestly quite a few of the things on that video aren’t necessary for pop musicians. It was talking about music theory, however, once you actually study music theory, then you talk about Jazz, and then once you’re deep in music theory, then you talk about classical music, and then once you’re swimming in the marianas trench of music, you talk about obscure things like how Pitch actually equals rhythm! That was one of the subjects that they talked about in the video. 

And I had no idea that this stuff was even real. I think about half-way I realized that I didn’t know a single thing of what he was talking about. 

Well it’s not like I didn’t completely know, I actually knew and could keep up with what he was saying.

But like the overarching themes I hadn’t heard of. 

And so here I am realizing that I really didn’t know what I was talking about in the music business. 

However…

This is so exciting!!!!

This is so exciting!!! I actually found things that I didn’t know about music theory. 

Literally, all of the YouTube videos and articles that I find on the internet about music theory, only talk about the surface of music theory. 

None of them talk about in depth things like the music theory behind producing music. 

They don’t talk about different rhythms, etc. etc. 

And so, I found this video, and it actually has advanced things. And I was so happy to find it. It was such a joy!

And not only that, but the Lord is helping me. 

The Lord is making me wiser and stronger by giving me more intelligence. 

I know it’s a bit of a culture shock to me. But it’s honestly a good thing. I’m growing musically.
