Hey everyone! So today, I’m going to give you the top 3 reasons why blogging is so important to Christian musicians.
Before we get into it, let’s have our moment of silence.
At this time, I would like all of us to take a moment of silence and pray to God to help us to become the person that he wants us to become. Ask God to strengthen us on our journey to becoming strong Christians.
Now back to the show
Reason 1: It exercises your writing muscles.
Most of you probably fall under the singer-songwriter category. As such, we need to practice songwriting as much as possible.
Writing in general will build our skills just as equally as poetry writing or songwriting. You develop a set of words that you can use to your advantage and your style so that people recognize that it is you who is speaking.
It will affect your songwriting abilities in a positive way.
I remember back when I first started to write songs, I was a mess because lyrically, I didn’t know where to go.
I always wanted to make something complex and revolutionary but I never really stopped to think that music is a really simple process.
You use simple words and language to express something that is complex.
And you develop your pattern of words by writing.
Therefore, it only makes sense that your blog will only benefit you if you just write in it.
Reason 2: It builds your skills in a field that could potentially become your full-time income
Being in the music industry, you should know that there is a certain period in time where your music skills will not pay for all of your bills.
And you should know that you should have a fallback in case anything wrong happens.
I know, I know, “There is no other musician like you!” I get it.
But guess what? There are a million and one other musicians out there that are just like you.
All of them have just as much if not more talent, work ethic, good looks, education, etc. etc.
So, don’t think that you’re too high and mighty to skip this part.
We as musicians all need a fallback in case things go sour. Our blog can be just that.
This is a business and like with any other business, it carries risks. And the risk is that you spend a few years trying to build a sustainable career out of your music and nothing happens.
The reality is that you need to have developed a set of skills as your backup in order to be more confident in what you’re doing.
Go out and pursue some degrees. Go out and learn a trade and do this as a side too.
If you’re in the music game, you’re in the long game, so why not hustle through it anyways?
Reason 3: It promotes your music
My favorite reason as to why I love blogging for music.
Music promotion shouldn’t be ignored from our music agenda.
Promoting the songs that we make and the artist that we are should actually be just as important as the songwriting process itself.
Blogging hits it right on the head of the nail when we talk about promotion.
Unlike videos where time is a factor, a blog post can be as long as you want it to be.
And as a matter of fact, it’s recommended by some experts that the bigger the blog post, the better the results.
And it’s a great way to engage with an audience, build an audience, sell your merch and music, get seen by record labels, etc. etc.
It’s an awesome overall way to build a fanbase.
