I know what you’re thinking, “German, you’ve got me convinced that I’m supposed to make YouTube videos in order to market my music. How do I make quality YouTube videos in order to make my music dream a reality?”
Well good news for you, I’ve got the Golden ticket to the chocolate factory.
Before we talk about this, let’s have our moment of silence.
At this time, I would like all of us to take a moment of silence and pray to God to help us to become the person that he wants us to become. Take a minimum of 5 minutes and pray for this.
Now back to the show
How to make a great YouTube video
So I personally know from experience how to make different videos.
I actually have gotten paid for some of my video work.
And I actually have gotten significant results from my efforts.
I have made YouTube Videos that boosted the views of my company by 5,000%
For a few periods too.
So all this to say, that I know what I’m talking about.
Now it’s time to share with you all the Video creation process.
- Pre-production
- Production
- Post-production
Pre-production
In the pre-production phase, you are figuring out what you want to create. You might go a few days figuring out exactly the video that you want to put up.
How you’re going to shoot it, What camera you’re going to use, What budget you have to play with in order to make this video, etc. etc.
You are writing down the details in a notebook to figure out what order you want to make everything and what you want to do, down to the specifics.
Also, in this pre-production phase, you are writing down SCRIPTS.
Scripts are what you’re going to say on camera and how you’re going to say it.
If you can hold all of that information in your mind, then by all means do it, but it actually helps a lot to write it down because or else, you’ll forget important details.
Figure out how to make quality scripts and you should be golden.
The last part of doing the pre-production phase is that you’ll have to rehearse your scripts.
The reason why is because you want to come out as cohesively and uniformed as possible when you are speaking to the camera.
And rehearsing can take a while so plan out ahead of time how exactly you want to do it.
Production
Production is the actual process of recording the clips and videos that you’re going to use for the final product.
In this phase, you’re playing with the camera and angles and different clothes to wear while you make the video.
*Tip: If you’re talking to the audience, look directly at the camera. Don’t look at the screen that has a picture of you. Look at the lens of the camera.
**Another tip: Sometimes you’re going to have to take multiple takes in order to get the perfect take for your video, don’t be lazy, a good rule to shoot for is 3 to 4 takes per take, just so that you can figure out which one you want.
Post production
Ahh my favorite part. Usually this part means editing. Now that you have the raw and uncut clips and videos of you doing your rehearsed scripts, it’s time to put it all together.
You’re going to have to get familiar with the video editing software that you want to use. I personally use Filmora, I think it’s super powerful, helpful, and easy. If you’ve taken any computer class or played around with a DAW, then you most likely have some experience using a video editing software. It’s similar to a DAW.
Another aspect to the Post-production phase is that you’re going to have to figure out when you want to post those videos.
It’s a simple step, but it’s necessary nonetheless.
