Hey everyone! So today, I’m going to share with you all why “Actively” obtaining an audience is a horrendous idea.
Before we get started, let’s have our moment of silence.
At this time, I would like all of us to take a moment of silence and pray to God to help us to achieve our goals and dreams. Take a minimum of 5 minutes and pray for this.
Now back to the show
Why “actively” obtaining an audience is a terrible idea.
So, I don’t personally believe in active methods of generating a fanbase for a few reasons.
The first reason is that when you try and actively gain fans, it usually involves a few things.
The first thing that it involves is interacting with people. When you interact with people on the internet, it can go good don’t get me wrong.
However, there are a million things that can go wrong too.
The first thing that can happen when you talk to someone is that that person might not be right in the head, if you get what I’m saying?
And it would actually be counterproductive to be talking to that person.
The second thing that could happen is that you could not interact with your ideal audience.
Sure people are nice, so is any other serial killer out there, but are they your ideal audience? Do you know for sure that, that person likes your music? Or are they just being nice to you?
The last thing I’m going to say is that when you try and reach out to people, it can be difficult trying to obtain an audience from scratch.
You have to develop skills that you might not have: networking, socializing, building business relationships and interpersonal relationships all help out in the workplace.
And when you take work to the internet, that essentially becomes your workplace.
The next thing that could go wrong is that you get discouraged quickly.
It takes a lot out of you in order to go up to someone random and start talking to them on the internet.
If you are one of those people that find it easy to talk to people, then by all means use that to your advantage.
But some people, including me, find it difficult to talk to people who I don’t really know and ask them for their business.
It’s a little different when you’re talking to someone on the internet.
Like you’re not going to say, “Hey buy my music.” that’s a big no no.
You have to build rapport with people over the internet and actually get that person to like you as a person. And that’s a skill that is difficult to achieve.
It takes a salesperson to be able to do that and to learn how to do that effectively.
Or it could just take someone very social to actually talk to people.
Either way, you can learn it, it’s just not easy for some and easier for others.
What I recommend on doing
So, I obviously don’t like the whole “active” methods of gaining a fanbase.
What I recommend is to content market your music.
Content marketing is exactly that, just marketing yourself through creating content.
I’ve already talked about this before so I won’t talk too much about it now.
If you really feel like you need something solid before you continue with content marketing, I understand, Get a certificate related to content marketing.
Actually the reason why I got into blogging was because I got certified in blogging through my boss.
She got me certified and I saw the importance of blogging so I just decided to start blogging.
And so, I picked up blogging but then I got certified in other content marketing certificates and sure enough it proved to be very beneficial.
And the certificates are cheap. They also help with employers. Some employers really want to see that you can do the job and aren’t concerned with education requirements.
They have certificates in anything, you just have to find it on the internet. They’re cheap too and they will teach you what you need to know.
To me, Actively gaining and audience means blogging or Posting up Videos on YouTube. That’s honestly what that means to me.
And I honestly think it’s the best way to market your music.
