Hey everyone! So today, I’m going to share with you all how to live the music life.
Before we get into it, let’s have our moment of silence.
At this time, I would like all of us to take a moment of silence and pray to God to help us to live the life that we were supposed to live. Ask God to make us grateful towards the life that we have. Take a minimum of 5 minutes and pray for this.
Now back to the show
3 tips on how to live the music life.
I know what you’re thinking, “German, I hear so many stories of musicians starting from nothing and ending up with a lot, but how do you do that? And how can I avoid the nothing step?”
I get it, it seems scary to want to start a career only to find out that you have to be dirt poor first in order to actually go into it.
But let’s get some things straight here, not every artist is a starving artist.
As a matter of fact, there are quite a few musicians out there making a living off of their music.
And I know that it seems like there is no end in the amount of musicians who just basically have nothing.
But hear me out.
There are a lot of things that go into a music career and it’s not just making music.
Let’s talk about the 3 tips I have for living the music life.
Find a career in order to support your music career.
When you first start out with a music career, you need a lot of money in order to start doing the things that you want to do.
You need money to fork over for the recording studio, session musicians, producers, mixing and mastering engineers, or if you want to do everything yourself, you need money to start your home studio.
AND, you need to make a lot of music! Like every day you need to be making songs.
You need to constantly be working on your lyrics, guitarmanship, voice, blog, YouTube channel, etc. etc.
It’s a lot that you need to do.
So, the obvious first step that you should do is to get a career.
If you are pursuing a music career, I really don’t recommend you dropping out of high school because there are a lot of certificates available for music if you have a high school degree.
There are also a ton of careers that pay enough for you to live off of with your high school diploma.
So, always get your high school degree.
I would actually go as far to say that you need to go to college too.
There are many opportunities for the musician over at different colleges.
You have college radios, music lessons, just overall great experiences that will benefit you to do the best things possible for music.
Also, if you’re young, college can provide housing so that you can live on campus and get your degrees. Thereby eliminating the need for a job.
Scholarships are beautiful along with grants.
Just whatever you do, never stop learning, because the more you learn, the more you earn.
I didn’t get that from that dude on YouTube, that’s a bible verse.
Never forget your end goals
I know that I’m saying a lot of great things when I say this, but in reality, there is a humble process that there is going to be for EVERYBODY.
Whether you are a doctor or lawyer, or whatever it is, there is always a humbling process for everyone. And for a lot of people, including doctors and lawyers, the process is starting out being poor.
And in this instance, I’m not talking about poverty where you are struggling to eat every day.
No, I’m talking about a poverty where you have to take the bus to work, maybe have two jobs, maybe have one job and go to college, and be working on a bunch of certifications while trying to improve your life.
That’s not extreme poverty, but it’s not where a lot of people want to be.
HOWEVER, there are doctors, and lawyers, and great people out there who started out in those same footsteps.
And ultimately, those steps are essential for us.
It’s the process that it takes to become the great person that you need to become.
And trust me when I say this,
IT’S ONLY FOR A SHORT TIME
Just grind it out for a few years and then when you are making mad money, you’ll thank me later.
Just remember to ask God to help you to do this really difficult task.
Which brings me to the next part
Always ask God for everything
Pray to God and thank him for that cheap guitar that you have, or maybe those old speakers that you got, or whatever it is that you have, thank God for it.
Ask God for more wisdom, intelligence, strength, determination, etc. etc.
Thank the Lord for the skills that you have.
Always be humble and remember that It’s God who is working in us.
Because ultimately, we can have a million plans to rule the world, however, none of it matters if the Lord is not on your side.
God can shut down any plan that we have at any moment, so always ask God to guide you in the right direction.
In conclusion
The music life is a beautiful life, don’t be discouraged just because there doesn’t seem like a direct clear path to do the things that you want to do.
God blesses the hard worker. Remember that God can do anything.
