Hey everyone! So today, I’m going to share with you all some tips on how to promote your music and audio for a Christian musician.

Before we get started, let’s have our moment of silence.

At this time, I would like all of us to take a moment of silence and pray to God to help us to become the musician that he wants us to become. Ask God to guide us throughout all of our music journeys. Take a minimum of 5 minutes and pray for this.

Now back to the show

Music and audio promotion for a Christian musician

I know what ya’ll are thinking, “German are you going to talk again about blogging and YouTubing? We get it, they’re important.”

To that answer is no, I’m not going to talk about those things.

Instead I’m going to talk about what kind of content you will need to generate in order to market appropriately to your audience.

Because when we talk about music and audio promotion, we are talking about more than just the recording artist.

We are talking about the mixing engineer, the mastering engineer, the producer, the session guitarist, etc. etc.

So to all of these approaches, we need to blog and youtube, but we need to take different approaches to each of these.

The main reason is because with some music jobs, you don’t always want to appeal to the masses.

Sometimes you just want to appeal to the musicians who would appreciate your music.

Anyways, without further ado, let’s talk about this.

If you’re trying to appeal to the masses

Actually there are actually a few people who I would consider in this field. The ones that come to mind are actually the singer-songwriter, the tribute band, the cover band, and the recording artist.

And in order to appeal to the masses, you have to talk about things that the masses would want to hear about.

However, I know that Christianity doesn’t always do that.

Therefore, you should always write with God in mind first and then worry about the rest.

I actually don’t write trying to appeal to absolutely EVERYONE because I know that the majority of the crowd is going to disagree with me.

But what I am going to say is that focus on God first and then worry about the rest and that’s how you will find the right topics to say.

Also, write a lot of personal blog topics that talk about more of who you are and what you would like to do with your career.

Talk about what you support, some of your hobbies, you know personal things that would get a crowd more interested in you. These kind of things really make a crowd get to know you on an intimate level.

Of course, never share anything that would hinder your reputation or harm you.

For the musicians

Usually the professionals that I am talking about that are focused on the musician are the producers, mixing engineers, songwriters, session musicians, mastering engineers, managers, record label execs and so on and so forth.

These are the musicians that are looking to work with other musicians.

I guess in a way, every musician is looking to work with other musicians.

But you have to appeal to your group of people in order to look good, that’s how come you usually don’t see a metal artist with a pop musician or something like that.

Anyways, you want to focus on almost exclusively music content for this group of people.

The reason why is because if you’re a producer and you want people to see your expertise in a field, then you want to show off your expertise.

Give them blog posts about mixing beats or how to produce a rock song, or how to train your ears to hear good productions, etc. etc.

Or if you’re a session musician, you would talk about, “What gear would cause your guitar to sound like a 2000s alternative song. Or maybe which type of bass should you get: 4 or 5 string and beyond?”

If you’re a songwriter, talk about how to write great lyrics or how to start songwriting, etc. etc.

For both of these professionals

In almost every music profession, and really I should say every music profession because that’s to my best of knowledge but I’m pretty sure that someone out there has a different theory behind this.

In almost every music profession, you will have to write a lot of your blog posts about music.

The reason why I say that is because around 40% of all music fans are trying to become paid musicians.

Therefore, you will need to appeal to YOUR masses. And your masses are musicians.

It’s a big reason why I talk a lot of music on this blog.

However, my blog is a Christian music blog. And of course, I wanted to dedicate everything that I am to God.

So, I talk a lot about God in this blog because I want to appeal to the masses as well, my masses.

And I know it might not make me a billionaire of a musician, but I’ll be a Godly musician and honestly what more could I ask for?
