Hey everyone! So today, I’m going to talk about sin and salvation as a bible study.
If you want to go and get your bibles so that we can study together would be fine.
Before we get started, let’s have our moment of silence.
At this time, I would like all of us to take a moment of silence and pray to God to help us to become the person that he wants us to become. Take a minimum of 5 minutes and ask God to guide us throughout the bible so that we can learn more from him.
Now back to the show
Bible Study: Sin and Salvation
What is sin?

The greek definition of sin means to miss the mark.
The first time the word sin was actually used was way back in the Old Testament, in Genesis of course.
Genesis 4:7 actually was talking about Cain and abel. And everyone of course knows that Cain slew Abel, his brother, but this verse actually has God speaking to Cain.
And God states in Genesis 4:7, “If thou doest well, shalt thou not be accepted? And if thou doest not well, sin lieth at the door. And unto thee shall be his desire, and thou shalt rule over him.”
God is actually warning Cain about sin.
He is warning him that sin is about to enter into his life.
And sure enough, Cain slew his brother.
Afterwards, God cursed Cain with a terrible curse, and Cain stated that it was too much for him to bare.
The reason why this is so important

Well these verses actually speak personally to me because of a few things.
- It shows that they were some of the first people to ever live on the earth. Which means that there were no wars, there wasn’t much conflict, and God audibly and visually spoke to these people, and yet they still decided to sin against God. You might try and argue that Cain didn’t know any better and that he was just fighting to please God, well if we look at it today, we KNOW better than to kill someone, and yet there are people out there who are mass murderers. So, this goes to show, that the world could be practically perfect and we still would sin.
- The first time that sin was talked about, it was referring to literal death. Death in every aspect. Death on Cain and Abel. So, it literally shows that sin is not a subject to make fun of. Sin is a serious subject.
Salvation

It’s because of this sin that we COULDN’T live with God forever.
However, it says in the bible of how we can live with God forever, and that’s through Jesus Christ.
Luke 1:77 states, “to give knowledge of salvation unto his people by the remission of their sins.”
This literally states that the remission of the sins is the way to eternal life.
John 3:16 speaks about it further.
John 3:16 actually has Jesus speaking to his followers and he states, “For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten son so that whosoever believes in him shall not perish but have everlasting life.”
So I know that Luke states that by getting rid of your sins is the way to heaven, however, we as humans are unable to just get rid of our sins.
Our sins are permanently on our record until we die.
So, that’s the reason why we have a redeemer.
Our redeemer is the one that has allowed our sins to be forgiven, Jesus explains this in the verses following John 3:16.
John 3:17-20 states, “For God sent not his son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through him might be saved. He that believeth on him is not condemned, but he that believeth not is condemned already, for they have not believed in the name of the only begotten son of God. And this is the condemnation, that light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil. For everyone that doeth evil hateth the light, neither cometh to the light, lest their deeds should be reproved.”
Specifically, verse 18 is the one that directly answers the fact that we are condemned.
Now all of these words, Jesus spoke.
All of John 3:16-20 he spoke, and he even states in verse 18,
“He that believeth on him is not condemned but he that believeth not is condemned already for they have not believed in the name of the only begotten son of God.”
Remember that Jesus spoke those words.
And I know that I mentioned in Luke that it’s through the “Remission of sins” that we are saved but really it’s altogether.
What happens is that once we are saved, we must forsake our old paths and seek the holy paths of God.
I know that may sound bad, but we really aren’t losing much.
I mean, what are you losing that you don’t want to lose? Are you losing your addictions? Your laughs to inappropriate jokes? Are you losing your ability to gamble? Or maybe some of those friends that you know for a fact aren’t good influences on you?
You see, now that I put it that way, it doesn’t seem like you’re losing too much.
It just seems like you’re losing all of the things that you shouldn’t have had in the first place.
And that’s what it is.
And the beautiful thing about it is that God only gives good, perfect gifts.
James 1:17 states, “Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above. And cometh down from the father of lights, with whom is no variableness neither shadow of turning.”
So, this means that you can be confident in trusting in God when you look to him. Be confident in the Lord that he will do the best thing for you at all times.
