Hey everyone! So today, I’m going to share with you all why it is important to give to the poor.
Before we get into it, let’s have our moment of silence.
At this time, I would like all of us to take a moment of silence and pray to God to help us to become the person that he wants us to become. Take a minimum of 5 minutes and pray to God to put good things in our hearts. Ask God to give us good desires in our hearts so that we can do good in the world.
Now back to the show
Why is giving to the poor important?
Here is a bible verse to start things off.
Proverbs 19:17 states, “He that hath pity upon the poor lendeth unto the LORD; and that which he hath given will he pay him again.”
So right here in this verse, the Lord is promising something to the person that gives.
The Lord is promising that whoever has pity on the poor is LENDING to the Lord. and that which he has given will he pay him again.”
So right here in this verse, the Lord is implying that we are to give to the poor.
Here is another verse.
Acts 20:35 states, “I have shewed you all things, how that so labouring ye ought to support the weak, and to remember the words of the Lord Jesus, how he said, It is more blessed to give than to receive.”
Paul right here is saying that by labouring we are to support the weak!
What an amazing gift that is to support the weak through work.
However, doing good things require strength from God. The reason why is because God is the source of all good.
God is the source of all good and we need him to do absolutely everything that there is in life.
And I know it seems difficult to give to the poor, especially when you might not have a lot of money yourself.
However, there are a few bible verses that state that through Christ, I can do all things.
Philippians 4:13 states, “I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.”
So through Christ and the power that he gives, we can give to the poor, for God does pay back whatever we give for he knows that we have need of it.
Giving to the needy is also pleasing unto the Lord.
Hebrews 13:16 states, “But to do good and to communicate forget not: for with such sacrifices God is well pleased.”
Hebrews specifically states that it is pleasing to the lord to “do good”
Remember to always give with a cheerful heart and spirit for God loves a cheerful giver.
2 Corinthians 9:7 states, “Every man according as he purposeth in his heart, so let him give; not grudgingly, or of necessity: for God loveth a cheerful giver.”
Matthew 6: 1-4 states, “Take heed that ye do not your alms before men, to be seen of them: otherwise ye have no reward of your Father which is in heaven. Therefore when thou doest thine alms, do not sound a trumpet before thee, as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and in the streets, that they may have glory of men. Verily I say unto you, They have their reward. But when thou doest alms, let not thy left hand know what thy right hand doeth:That thine alms may be in secret: and thy Father which seeth in secret himself shall reward thee openly.”
So remember to give not wanting attention from people because that’s not how God wants it either.
God wants you to give out of happiness in your heart and to give by serving him. Not give by serving men.
Let the Lord glorify you in what you do.
Proverbs 22:9 states, “He that hath a bountiful eye shall be blessed; for he giveth of his bread to the poor.”
Right here the bible doesn’t say, it PROMISES that whosoever gives is BLESSED.
And like I said in the previous blog posts, God is not sarcastic or evil or twisted. When God says that you’re blessed, it’s because you are blessed! That means that good things are going to happen to you.
Matthew 5:42 states, “Give to him that asketh thee, and from him that would borrow of thee turn not thou away.”
That was Jesus speaking right there.
Proverbs 14:31 states, “He that oppresseth the poor reproacheth his Maker: but he that honoureth him hath mercy on the poor.”
In conclusion
I know it might be difficult to give to the poor, however, we must be more confident in the Lord than we should be about ourselves.
We should be confident in the Lord and know that the Lord will always provide for us in every situation.
The Lord knows what to do at all times and therefore we should trust in him more than we trust in ourselves.
