Hey everyone! So today, I’m going to go over how a Christian should make a song.
Before we get started, let’s have our moment of silence.
At this time, I would like all of us to take a moment of silence and pray to God and ask God to make us great songwriters. Take a minimum of minutes and ask God to make us great and holy songwriters.
Now back to the show
How should Christians write songs?

You know I really started to ask myself this question back when I first heard that there are people out there who don’t approve of Christian rock.
I was really perplexed that there were differences even in music.
However, I was set to find out the truth.
The main question is how should Christians write songs? The implied question is, can Christians write rap, rock, emo, heavy metal, etc. etc.?
Is it Godly to write songs in these formats?
Let’s talk about this.
Why I think that it’s okay to write Rock and Rap but maybe not heavy metal and emo.
So, our focus on a song as a Christian is the worship and praise of God.
That is our sole purpose as a Christian musician and songwriter.
It’s to lift up the name of our Lord above all names.
When you rap or rock, you are essentially singing your heart to God through the words and arts that the Lord has placed inside of you. There is nothing wrong with that.
The reason why I don’t think that heavy metal and emo would be a good fit is because heavy metal and emo focuses on the musical elements and the theatrics of the performance. It takes away from worshiping God because we lose focus of our purpose.
Why I don’t think it’s okay to write rock or rap

I love rock and rap, however, there are people out there who adamantly believe that it’s nothing good. AND I’M NOT opposed to that either.
I’ll put it this way, rap and rock really drove me away from God for a long time. It separated me from him and I didn’t like that. At one point I really couldn’t even stand to listen to Christian music because I was so influenced by rap and rock.
Today, I’m happy and thankful to God to say, that I no longer crave those songs. I don’t want those songs in my life anymore.
I will admit I still listen to it every once in a while, but it’s becoming more rare each day.
I personally believe it’s okay to make Christian rock, but I seriously don’t know. Everyone has their purpose in life and everyone has their beliefs. I am not entitled to try and convince someone else that their belief is wrong.
But I will say that if you want to find the real answer, then pray to God to give you the real answer and he will.
