Hey everyone! So today, I’m going to go over what are some bible principles for a Fundamentalist Christian musician.

Before we get started, let’s have our moment of silence.

At this time, I would like all of us to take a moment of silence and pray to God to guide us more towards him everyday. Ask God that we follow him to not conform to any one religion but to his word. Ask God to help us believe in his word and to be excellent Christians. Take a minimum of 5 minutes and pray for this.

Now back to the show

What are some bible principles for a modern Fundamentalist Christian musician?

So before I start this blog post, I would like to just say a few caveats.

One, I have been going to a Fundamentalist Baptist Church almost all my life.

So obviously I am a little bit biased towards the old hymns and the format of singing to  God through a Church choir, piano, organ, or orchestra.

I obviously have those influences.

I would also like to say something very important and actually it’s something that my Fundamentalist Baptist preacher taught me.

He said, “German, if a church is a bible believing and God fearing church, it doesn’t matter what denomination they are in.”

And I looked at him and at the time I was young and I said, “Even these churches?” and he said yes, even those churches.

And so, I think that is wisdom. Because the first churches that were formed weren’t Baptist, Methodist, Calvinist, or Pentacostal.

No, they were just Christians.

So I feel like though this question is appropriate, it’s a little bit misguided because we should be asking the question, “How to please the Lord with my music.”

Because the Lord doesn’t care where you come from, he just wants to see you chase after him.

So, let’s talk about how to please the Lord with our music

Instruments

I said earlier in this blog post that I’m biased towards Church choir and acoustic instruments.

However, I personally believe that it’s alright to listen to other instruments.

I think that the electric guitar, bass, piano, drum set, and synthesizers can all work quite well together in order to make good holy music.

Now, I’m not saying that every genre of music should be allowed to praise the Lord because some of it just doesn’t have holiness in it.

If you ever have a doubt as to what kind of music should praise the Lord, you need to pray about it.

Just pray to God to show you what kind of music he would prefer, and he’ll show you the type and the instruments that he wants you to use as well.

Message

What is the message that the Lord wants you to communicate to the world?

I heard from a preacher, who is NOT a musician, that the Lord wants us to make music that worships and praises him.

I don’t know to what extent that means?

And he also says they should be happy.

I trust this preacher. But I still have to do my own research. So far, I would say that’s a pretty accurate statement as to what God wants us to write about.

Definitely nothing that curses.

Music theory

I love music theory.

And I use it all the time to make my songs.

Music and it’s theory has evolved since the first churches were formed.

We don’t have harps, we have pianos and guitars.

We don’t have one note, we have 12 repeating into infinity and beyond both on the low end and the high end.

We have chords and techniques that are different.

So, I would say that if you really like the way a song sounded, then try and imitate it.

If you see a I IVvi V chord progression, then use it.

What I’m trying to say is that I don’t think that pop music theory is something that should be used only for pop.
