Hey everyone! So today, I’m going to share with you all a blog post called surrendering our music to the Lord in Northern Virginia.

Before we get started, let’s have our moment of silence.

At this time, I would like all of us to take a moment of silence and pray to God to help us to become the person that he wants us to become. Take a minimum of 5 minutes and pray to God to do this.

Now back to the show

I get what you’re saying, you’re thinking, “German, it’s just too difficult to start a Christian music career in the Northern Virginia area.”

You might say, “I hear big musicians say that the number one thing that you need to do in order to get followers and album sales is to play live.”

And though that’s not bad, I should add that most big named artists aren’t Christian singers and songwriters.

I too am a musician. And I have experienced the fact that there are a very limited number of Christian venues in the Northern Virginia area.

I understand that most of the venues out there are bars and clubs.

But I will say that a dream in a career such as music is NOT IMPOSSIBLE.

It is completely possible to start a Christian music career anywhere that you go, it’s just a matter of working at it.

And God knows where you live. God knows of the challenges that there are in your area.

But guess what? Even if you were to do secular music, it would still be a challenge to get venues to sign you up.

And it would still be equally as difficult to start a following based around your music.

And not only that, but since you’re at clubs and bars, you have to deal with the clubs and bars headaches of people being drunk, throwing beer bottles at you, being a completely disrespectful audience, etc. etc. (I’m not throwing shade at any bar out there. I’ve played at some bars that are very respectful people back before I was serious about God)

However, when we’re Christian musicians, we don’t have to worry about those problems.

What’s more is that we leave our career up to God. We leave our talents to God. and since God knows of the needs that we face and the challenges that we have, we leave all those challenges to the Lord.

So it’s safe to say that our needs are covered, our challenges are taken care of, and we can live in peace if we have this Christian music career because of God.

But German how do you do it in Northern Virginia?

Well, I’ll tell you how you’re going to do it. Just start making content about music and Christianity and people will show up at your blog or YouTube channel.

I know it’s difficult, I know it’s not the path taken often, but that’s the life of a Christian. Take the path less traveled.

It might be harder to do carnally, but spiritually and in reality, it’s easier.

But when you work hard at your blog or YouTube channel, work hard! Work hard as if though it’s your job because you are trying to make this your job.

And when you think about it, all of the professionals in this industry agree that these type of careers take a long time to develop, I’m talking years. Not 1 year but maybe 2 -6 years to make a good living off of it.

And we know that good things take a long time to achieve, that’s bible!

So since we know that good things take a long time to achieve, we understand that a blog is actually a good thing, which is another fact that we can rest on. We are pursuing something good.

And you know, it’s going to suck at first. It’s going to be difficult, but hear the words that my mom and my bosses have told me, “El arragan y el mesquino camina 7x el camino.” In English that means, “The lazy one will walk 7x the path.”

So work hard, don’t be lazy because it’s just more work if you are lazy.

You can do this. It’s been done before and you can do it again.

What about technicalities?

Patience young grasshopper! It takes TIME. You could be doing all the right things, but if you don’t have patience or the work ethic to see through all of your work, it won’t matter.

I mean I guess there is an aspect of learning how to blog and learning how to make videos, but there are a ton of resources out there that teach you how to become an excellent content creator.

The way I started was that I was blogging everyday. I was blogging everyday and for a year now, I haven’t stopped. It’s difficult, sometimes you just want to take a break, but when you see all those views that you get on a single day, it just becomes that much more encouraging.

Muscle on through and you will make it.
