Hey everyone! So today, I’m going to share with you all some of my Northern Virginia Christian music tips.
Before we get started, let’s have our moment of silence.
At this time, I would like all of us to take a moment of silence and pray to God to help us to become the person that he wants us to become. Take a minimum of 5 minutes and pray for this.
Now back to the show
Northern Virginia Christian music tips

I know what you’re thinking, “German, what are some good venues out there that aren’t a bar that I can perform at?”
Or how about, “German, how is someone supposed to make an audience without the help of a car or money to build it?”
Or maybe even the, “German, I want to market my music, where do I start on the internet?”
These are all valid questions someone should ask themselves when starting a music career.
Let’s be real here, regardless of whether you’re a Christian musician or not, it’s very difficult to start a music career because of all the challenges that musicians face each day.
I will say that maybe starting a secular music career would be easier if you can do it because there are more beginner venues out there that would support your come up.
Usually these places are actually bars and clubs.
However, as Christian musicians, we usually want to stay away from those bars and clubs. Those bars and clubs often don’t reflect or even attract the audience that we want.
So that leaves us with one option, churches.
Our only option sometimes are churches. Well of course coffee shops wouldn’t be bad either, but I digress.
But the problem with churches is that there are too many churches out there that will not agree with the type of music that you will play. Whatever kind of music you will play, it’s most likely that you will not find a church really close by to support it.
I remember hearing the stories about the biggest Chrisitan bands that there are today, and how they had to travel 100 miles just to play a small church that would accept them.
So since we can’t really play live without having a fan base already setup, we have to get creative about how we can start a music career.
More so, we have to get creative about how we start a fan base.
Since we’re in Northern Virginia, I will directly speak about the Northern Virginia Christian music scene.
Let’s get started.
Be resourceful

I personally believe that if you want it bad enough, you will go after it and chase it with all your heart.
So like, the thing about being creative is that it’s beautiful and actually necessary in all aspects of life.
I remember I wanted to start my own business (which is what a lot of people in the music industry say is creating a music career) at one point and I had read some books on how to start a business.
And they said to be very resourceful.
There are a plethora of online resources that will give you knowledge on how to do things. Also, you can check classifieds for things that are free that you would need.
I have seen pianos go for free on the internet.
I have seen old computers go on sale on the internet.
And you know what? Sometimes that’s all that’s needed.
So when you need to write in a blog, a laptop is a very helpful piece of equipment that CAN be cheap.
I’m not saying that you’re going to produce your whole album in it when you have a small budget to work with.
But I am saying that you can do wonders with a cheap laptop that can do the job that you need it to do.
Don’t limit yourself on the area

So we’re in Northern Virginia right? But actually it’s a very helpful place to be for a musician.
I understand that there aren’t that many jobs in the music field in this area, but that shouldn’t be a reason to not get involved in the music industry in this area.
I have always said that the hard road is often the best road.
And I say that if you can’t find a Chrsitian music scene in your area, then BE the Christian music scene in the area.
Right now, it’s difficult for me to actually get around since I don’t have a car, but that didn’t stop me from starting this blog and chasing my dreams.
The thing about dreams is that if you really want them to succeed, then you have to work hard at them.
I remember I one time heard my pastor say something to me and he said, “German it’s good to dream but dreaming alone is not going to give you what you want. Working hard is. So, it’s good to work hard at your dreams and be persistent with them.”
Of course, he didn’t know that I had big dreams of becoming a musician and if this blog ever gets anywhere, he’ll eventually find out! Haha!
So don’t limit yourself on the area, dream and work hard at your dreams.
Technical tips (use local SEO to your advantage)

It’s actually easier to rank locally than nationally or internationally. So try and rank high in your local search engine results first before you go and try and take on the world.
The best way to do that is by putting in blog posts that talk about your area. Say for example, “Northern Virginia Christian music tips.” or maybe, “D.C. area Christian music tips.”
Those kind of blog posts will help you to rank locally and the more you do that, the faster you will rank.
