Hey guys! Before we get started, let’s have our moment of silence.
At this time, I would like all of us to take a moment of silence and pray to Gods to help us to become the songwriters that he wants us to become. Take a minimum of 5 minutes and pray for this.
Now back to the show
Don’t be scared
You know what I saw just recently? I saw some friends who are band mates and they were being sarcastic of course
And they saw their bass player writing a song
And they were trying to play as if though what he did was something “cute” and that shouldn’t be done by bassists.
And I couldn’t help but to think, so what if the man’s trying to write a song?
I mean he’s going out there and trying to do his best to do something out of the ordinary.
I didn’t like it a little bit but I got the joke.
But anyways, don’t be scared to write songs because everyone starts somewhere.

What I typically do
I typically write poems for a few weeks, and then write a song or two.
The reason for that is because I feel like I need a lot of work on my lyrics. I understand the music part of it all, but my lyrics need work on.
So often times I will spend a few weeks writing poems and songs before I get serious about writing a few good songs.

I usually keep it simple.
Don’t overcomplicate the situation. Often times the most simplest solution is actually the better solution.
I know we all like to make songs that have a million chords in them, but really it’s not necessary.
Writing a good song with a four chord or 3 chord progression, is really All that’s needed to make a great hit.
I know we’ve all heard those metal songs that sound like they have a million chords in them, but really if you dissect it, it’s actually repeating a lot of the phrases that make up the song.

Don’t forget to include God in your plans
We could have a million plans in our lives, but it all needs God.
I remember I one time read in the Bible, it states in Proverbs 21:31 KJV, “the horse is prepared for the day of battle, but safety is of the Lord.”
It was specifically talking about war in this instance, however, we all know how much preparation goes into war.
And if it states that safety is of the Lord in war, how much more should we expect from all of the other things in life?
In other words it all belongs to God.
So we must give our songs to God, we must give our dreams to God.
