Hey everyone! So today, I’m going to share with you all a bible study that I did last night in Ecclesiastes.
Keep in mind that these are my own thoughts about it and that it doesn’t necessarily have to be a direct representation of what is actually the interpretation of Ecclesisates.
Before we get into it, let’s have our moment of silence.
At this time, I would like all of us to take a moment of silence and pray to God to help us to follow him no matter what. Ask God to guide us more towards him each and every day. Take a minimum of 5 minutes and pray for this.
Now back to the show
Bible Study: A study in Ecclesiastes
So I was trying in reality to find answers about good works.
I was looking to see what exactly are good works. Are good works a manner of praying where divine intervention takes place? Or is it the actual works that we do that glorify the Lord?
Whatever it is, I was set to find it last night.
And I found some interesting bible verses that supported my thoughts.
But then I stumbled onto Ecclesiastes.
Now Ecclesiastes is actually considered one of the wisdom books in the bible, one of the other ones is Proverbs.
And what happened was I kept saying a whole bunch of things and it said that, “This is vanity and vexation of the spirit.”
It kept saying that over and over again.
It kept saying, “This is vanity and vexation of the spirit.”
And it’s strange because it was saying opposing points of views saying that both of them are vanity and vexation of the spirit.
Now, no one know who wrote Ecclesiastes, but we understand that it was a preacher of some sort.
And he kept saying over and over again, “This is vanity and vexation of the spirit.”
Specifically he refers to being happy all the time as something that only fools do. But then again, he mentions that being sad all the time is something that only fools do.
It’s a little confusing.
And many times he states that we are to enjoy our money and our work so that we may live happy lives throughout our days.
And other times it states that mourning is the better option.
So then I came to the conclusion of something.
I think what it’s trying to say is that there is a time and place for everything, it even says so in the beginning of the book.
And it states that there is a time and place for everything, but we need to have a balance as to the things in our lives.
A person cannot go through his entire life being happy, that’s just something that God doesn’t allow.
But God is also good and will not let anybody go through their life just being sad.
So in a way, we have to be confident in God that God is in control and that we should enjoy all that we have in our lives. From the money that we have to the people that are around us.
But at the same time, have that seriousness that we always are supposed to have when dealing with serious matters.
And the serious manner is more important than the mirth manner.
So, it’s a balance. Understand that there will be sad times that come, but be happy when it’s time to be happy and God’s will is going to more than suffice for you.
