Hey everyone! So today, I’m going to share with you all how to get rich according to the bible. Keep in mind that money is not the only thing that matters. Keep in mind that money and riches does not equate to holiness or wisdom. You must also keep in mind that poverty does not always equate to holiness or wisdom either.
Before we get started, let’s have our moment of silence.
At this time, I would like all of us to take a moment of silence and pray to God to help us to follow him. Ask God to guide us more towards him each day. Take a minimum of 5 minutes and pray for this.
How to get rich according to the bible.
So the bible actually says a lot about getting earthly riches.
It says that the crown of wise men is their riches.
However, there were people in the bible who had riches and they did not have God. So was this trying to say that not all rich people are wise? Yes that’s true.
We have to keep in mind that God is the source of our provision.
We can work all day long but if God doesn’t want us to have something, well then we can’t have it.
But anyways, the bible does mention some things about getting earthly rich.
Let’s go over a few of those bits of wisdom, primarily found in proverbs.
- Proverbs 28:20 KJV it states, “A faithful man shall abound with blessings: But he that maketh haste to be rich shall not be innocent.” What it’s trying to say is that if you try your best to be rich fast, you will not get it because riches aren’t done that way.
- Proverbs 14:23 KJV states, “In all labor there is profit: But the talk of the lips tendeth only to penury.” So right here it is saying that in everything that you do, there is profit. So you can be an artist, or a musician, or a website designer and make money off of it. You just need to work hard.
- Proverbs 3: 15-16 KJV it states, “She is more precious than rubies and all the things thou canst desire are not to be compared unto her. Length of days is in her right hand and in her left hand riches and honour.” Right in these verses it was talking about wisdom and what wisdom can do to you. It says that Length of days is in her right hand and in her left hand riches and honour.
- So how do we get wisdom? The answer is through the Lord. if we pray to the Lord and ask him for wisdom, he giveth liberally to all of those who ask him for it. James 1:5 KJV it states, “If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him.” I know that’s not in proverbs, but it’s true as well!
- Proverbs 19:17 KJV states, “He that hath pity upon the poor lendeth unto the Lord; and that which he hath given will he pay him again.” This is referring to the giving to the poor. Because the one who looks out to the poor is the Lord. The one who fights for the poor is the Lord. So we now understand that we have to give to the poor.
- Proverbs 10:4 KJV states, “He who has a slack hand becometh poor, but the hand of the diligent maketh rich.” Right here is telling us to work hard to become rich.
- Proverbs 3: 9-10 KJV states, “Honour the Lord with thy substance and with the firstfruits of all thine increase: So shall thy barns be filled with plenty, and thy presses shall burst out with new wine.” Right here it is saying to honor the Lord with your substance and with the first fruits of all thine increase. Because a part of getting rich is trusting the Lord with your money.
- Another thing that you should keep in mind and honestly it will help easen the burden with the whole money situation. What happens is that Jesus doesn’t want us to be a slave to money. Jesus wants us to be free from all of our bondages. So he said these next few verses trying to help people who are just laden with burdens. It states in Matthew 6: 31-32, “Therefore take no thought, saying, what shall we eat? Or, What shall we drink? Or, Wherewithal shall we be clothed? For after all these things do the Gentiles seek: For your heavenly father knoweth that ye have need of all these things. But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness, and all these things ahll be added unto you. Take therefore no thought for the morrow:for the morrow shall take thought for the things of itself. Sufficient unto the day is the evil thereof.”
- The last thing that I’m going to say about Money is this, Proverbs 11:4, “Riches profit not in the day of wrath: But righteousness delivereth from death.” The day of wrath is translated as the day that the Lord intervenes. On the day that the Lord intervenes, your riches will not profit because God does not care how much money you have in your bank account. God cares about your soul and the condition that it’s in.
So these are God’s bits of wisdom about riches. I know it’s a lot to take in but just keep in mind that God provides for all of us and that riches aren’t everything. Our soul matters way more than what riches could ever bring us. So take care of your soul, your relationship with God, and the rest is history.
