Hey everyone! So today, I’m going to share some words of encouragement to aspiring Christian musicians.
Before we get started, let’s have our moment of silence.
At this time, I would like all of us to take a moment of silence and pray to God to help us to follow throughout all of our days. Ask God to guide us more towards him each and everyday. Take a minimum of 5 minutes and pray for this.
Now back to the show
Some words of wisdom for aspiring Chrsitian musicians.
So like, I want to break up this blog post into three sections.
The first section goes out to all of those people out there who are just starting in music. Whether you haven’t done your first lesson or don’t have an instrument to play on, or you’re just starting to play those instruments.
That’s what the first one is going to go to.
The second one is going to go to those musicians who are mid-way in their career. Maybe they’ve played a few concerts, maybe they have a following, maybe they are just looking to start exploring music careers.
That’s the second section.
The third section is going to go out to those musicians who are well-versed in the music field. That section goes out to those professionals who have gone out and done the work that’s needed to be a great musician. Maybe you’ve won an award or got some achievements under your belt.
Or maybe you haven’t, but you work hard every day for your music and you fight to make it a reality.
Let’s talk about it.
The first section: Newbies

I get it, we’ve all been there before. Every musician that you’ve ever seen has done what you’re doing right now.
We’ve been in those points in our lives where we don’t have instruments and we don’t have lessons and they’re expensive and we are trying to learn through books and YouTube videos and Mp3s. We’ve all been there.
You know my answer to everything is God. That’s first and foremost. If you are constantly praying to God to help you to solve your music problems, God will give you the things that you need and solve the problems that you have.
That’s the first part about it.
The second part is to hear the technical wisdom that I have about music and beginning in music.
The technical part about it is to know that music takes a lot of work. It takes a lot of practice to be able to become something good in music.
So my advice to you at this stage is to not even worry about money or fame or fortune at first.
At this point in life, you are focused on getting the basics down tight.
The basics will go a long way.
You need to be practicing your music.
Some of you might ask how do you practice your music?
Well, whatever your teachers or your books are telling you to do, literally just do it.
If it says to sing two notes and you can NOT sing, then just attempt to sing and eventually you will find out how to sing on your own.
There is a technique to it so if you have questions be sure to just ask away. Do not be afraid to ask silly questions especially when it pertains to your education.
If it says to practice a song, just take it note by note and start off slow. Really slow, like painfully slow.
If it says to play C D and E, practice moving your hands in those directions, that’s really the way that you’re supposed to do it. Just move your hands in the position of where it’s supposed to be.
That’s practice and focus on practice.
Mid career

Now some of you probably are wondering, “Okay German, I’ve practiced a whole bunch and now I’m mid-career.” Maybe you know how to play the guitar and some pretty good songs, sing, and play the piano. However, you haven’t written a song, writing is not on your mind, you might not know music theory, and a four chord song is what you go to whenever you’re asked to perform.
That’s great progress believe it or not.
You are on the right track.
But now, it’s time to expand your musicality.
At this point in time, I don’t know if I would call you a professional just yet. However, I would recommend that you start putting YouTube videos on the internet. Or if you want to write, start writing a blog and talk about your music journey that you’re going through.
It’s actually a lot of fun writing every day.
I think it’s fun anyways. It takes a while to get some momentum going though, I will admit it.
It takes some time to get some momentum going.
But keep going. It’s the first 6 months that’s really the most difficult. After that, you’re golden.
Now it’s time for the pros

By this time, I assume that you’ve got like 7 years worth of music experience under your belt.
Hardcore music experience too.
Like you’ve played for 12 hours in a day, you’ve studied music theory, you can sing, rap, create songs, produce music, etc. etc. You have a blog about music, you are dedicated towards making a living, you are working really hard.
I would recommend that you don’t give up.
You as a musician have stood through the tests of time. You have gone out and battled and fought to be the best musician that you could possibly be.
Now, it’s not a matter of whether you should pursue a music career or not, Now, it’s a matter of you need to pursue it.
And there’s a reason for that.
The reason is that God would not give you something for vanity.
God would not have given you something so great for something so empty.
And God has given you music because he believes that you deserve music and that you have a purpose for music in your life.
Don’t give up.
I know things might look bleak, I know you might not be signed to a label, but God has a purpose for everyone in the world, and by now, you need to understand that your purpose is to sing and glorify God with music, what an honor.
