The bible actually has some insight as to how to network even for today.
Before we get started, let’s have our moment of silence.
At this time, I would like all of us to take a moment of silence and pray to God to help us to follow him. Ask God to guide us more towards him each and every day. Take a minimum of 5 minutes and pray for this.
Now back to the show
What is the biblical way of networking?
I’m going against the grain here when I say this.
But Networking should be looked at in a completely different perspective.
Networking isn’t about going up to random people and trying to get their contact information, especially if that person is in a position higher than you.
I don’t think that’s the proper way to do it, and I’ve always felt that way but could never say that it was appropriate to feel that way.
But what I found out was that the bible says the same thing as well.
Let’s look at a bible verse
Proverbs 25:7 states, “For better it is that it be said unto thee, come up hither; than that thou shouldest be put lower in the presence of the prince Whom thine eyes have seen.”
So right here the bible is saying that it’s actually better to be called up by someone higher than you than to be brought lower by the same person.
And if you’re trying to get into the music industry, the same rules apply.
Most often in the music industry, the way you get signed is by being heard first.
So like, I know that some people like to give out their demos to the record label and that’s fine because that’s a practice, but why don’t you focus on creating a great song and great fanbase first before you go out and try and get signed to the majors.
Let your fans speak for you and let your name be heard by the industry first.
I didn’t know this until it was late.
So completely against the grain, don’t go out and try and solicit your demos when you’re a nobody, instead build a name for yourself and show them that they are what you say you are.
