There’s a lot to be said at getting better at something. There is actually a lot of wisdom at getting better at a craft or a trade.

Before we get into it, let’s have our moment of silence.

At this time, I would like all of us to take a moment of silence and pray to God to help us to become hard workers at our music. Take a minimum of 5 minutes and pray for this.

Now back to the show

My number one practical method at getting better at music

So what happens is that when I was in the 6th grade, I had actually picked up the guitar.

And my dad was really happy at the fact that I was happy with the guitar that he had gotten me.

And so I started practicing it.

And my dad just kept saying, “Keep practicing, Keep practicing.”

And in order to keep up with the word of the Lord, I had to follow my dad’s commandments because that’s something that God would have wanted me to do.

And so I practiced.

And I practiced and practiced.

Years later, I turned out to be an amazing guitarist.

And then, I started working at different jobs. Some of those jobs could’ve been considered a trade. I went into sales, actual trades like flooring, restaurants, etc. etc. and I saw a common theme being practiced amongst all of these jobs.

I saw that the number one way at getting better at the job was through practice. I saw that practice meant doing the job over and over again until you couldn’t get it wrong. And once you were at the level where you could do the job until you couldn’t get it wrong, is when you knew that you were going to receive a pay raise.

And so, I carried that fact everywhere I went and I actually used that wisdom in a lot of the things that I went through in life.

I even started to use that wisdom in my relationship with the Lord.

So if you were to ask me what is my advice at getting better at something, ANYTHING in life, it is to practice it until you can’t get it wrong.

And ultimately through practice, you can become an amazing musician, painter, blogger, technician, athlete, etc. etc.

So go out there and be excellent but never forget the Lord on the days of your success.

For it was the Lord who gave you strength to go out there and accomplish your goals.
