Hey guys! Before we get into it, let’s have our moment of silence.
At this time, I would like all of us to take a moment of silence and pray to God to help us in music. Ask God to guide us more towards him each and every day. Take a minimum of 5 minutes and pray for this.
Now back to the show
How hard is it to make a living off of music?
So this question, though valid in it’s own form, is a little uneducated.
Because if you are already around 20 or 22 years old, you should already know that good things in life are very difficult to obtain.
And music is no different.
Music is so beautiful, it’s an art with sound, it can make people sing and cry and dance all at the same time.
There are songs that are banned for their political message and they’re made to strike a chord.
But exactly how hard is it to make a living off of music?
Let’s talk about it
How hard is it to become a doctor?

So first off, let’s ask ourselves something, “ How hard is it to become a doctor?”
It is very difficult to become a doctor.
You have to spend 10 plus years in school and all that time you’re going to have to deal with getting good grades or getting bad grades, you’re going to have to deal with relationships and part-time jobs, you’re going to have to deal with the regular nonsense that every musician faces each day.
You’re going to have to deal with technical computer problems, car crashes, life changing events like family passing away, etc. etc.
There are plenty of things that you’re supposed to deal with as a doctor, the same as a musician.
So as a doctor, your work comes where you study hard each night and fight to get the good grades.
In a sense, you do become a nerd or a geek or a book worm, but don’t look down on those titles, they’re just things that come with being a doctor.
And when you’re a musician it’s no different, we have homework too except the homework comes in the form of practicing our instrument and writing in a blog or making content for the internet.
Whenever we’re not doing those things, we’re out playing gigs or in a studio, like if you’re currently doing this as a musician.
And likewise in a music career.
However, as a musicians it can take a little longer to get the things that we want.
However, the reward is greater.
We all know the stories of millionaire musicians that write music all day long right?
And even still if we were to use the doctor analogy, some doctors go to school for 14 years, how much schooling is that?
Personally, I’ve been a musician for about 16 years and now I’m starting to receive the fruits of my labor.
And you know, I will say that there were some nights where I felt like giving up. There were some nights that I felt suicidal. There were some friends that died and I had to deal with good grades and bad grades in school, I had to deal with relationships and car problems and a whole plethora of other things that really was just a big struggle.
However, I put my faith in the Lord and ultimately the Lord guided me through it all.
Honestly if it wasn’t for God, I don’t know where I would be.
Let the Lord be glorified in it all.
