Hey everyone! So today, I’m going to just do a little rant.
Before we get into it, let’s have our moment of silence.
At this time, I would like all of us to take a moment of silence and pray to God to help us to follow him each and every day. Ask God to guide our musicianship and to help strengthen our hands in music. Take a minimum of 5 minutes and pray for this.
Now back to the show
Ranting about the music industry
So like, I feel like I should ask a question to all of you musicians out there.
Let me ask this
How many of ya’ll feel like music can sometimes be a job where there is no direction.
I certainly have felt that way before.
However, it’s much like every other job.
I’ll give an example.
Let’s just say we take an Engineer. That engineer has to take around 5, 6 , or 7 years to take their degrees and certificates to become an engineer in their field.
And like, it’s not guaranteed that they will succeed.
Like there are so many things that can happen in an engineering school that is so uncertain that it’s not guaranteed that the engineer succeeds.
Like I’ll give an example.
What happens if I am in school then all of a sudden I get into a car crash and I just get paralyzed? God forbid.
I’m just giving an example.
Or not even that, what happens if I’m in the second year of college and I just develop a disease that prevents me from becoming an engineer.
God forbid.
But you see where I’m going with this, there are so many things that can happen in an engineers life while they are learning to become an engineer that it’s just too uncertain to even guarantee that they will make it.
Let’s not go so extreme, what if I just didn’t do well on the tests, What if I messed up at a party and I get suspended from school, what if etc. etc.
So like just because music seems uncertain, doesn’t mean that it’s more uncertain than the next thing.
And like some of you might be saying to yourself, “But German it is extremely difficult to become a musician, how is anyone supposed to do it?”
Well let me ask you this, is it extremely difficult to become a doctor?
The answer is yes, it is extremely difficult to become a doctor, you have to be near perfect in your grades, you have to be PHYSICALLY capable of doing some doctor jobs, you have to pay a whole bunch of money to institutions and etc. and all the while you have to deal with the stresses of life.
That includes balancing a job, relationships, fun time, etc. etc.
So like just because music seems more difficult doesn’t mean that it is anymore difficult than the next career.
And the reason why I say that is because I have been successful in music.
Right now this music blog got around 919 views two months ago, last month it got 530 views, This month I have around 200 but that’s because I was slacking a lot.
What happens is that the Lord has actually blessed my hands in pool ball and I’ve just gotten really good, so I was taking it kind of seriously for a while.
And uh yeah.
So in reality, all of those things that I mentioned that could happen to a doctor or an engineer can happen to a musician as well, I’m not going to deny it.
But what I’m trying to get at is that we need to pray to God for our plans.
Because,
Regardless of your situation, whether you want to become a doctor or a musician or an engineer or whatever, the Lord can bless your hands in it and he will be the one to provide the ways for you to succeed.
Which is the reason why I say I have succeeded in music, it’s because I have prayed to God constantly over it.
I remember when I first picked up the guitar, every practice that I ever did with the guitar, I prayed to God to strengthen my hands in guitar and music in general.
Eventually, I was nicknamed a whole bunch of nicknames in my school for my musicianship.
And the Lord even blessed me with a few awards, it was the Lord.
And I still say today that the Lord blessed my hands with music and that’s why I keep doing it because God is with me in music.
So, whatever your plans are, pray to God for it, and he will bless you.
