Hey everyone! So today, I’m going to share with you all some musician tips for gigging.
Before we get started, let’s have our moment of silence.
At this time, I would like all of us to take a moment of silence and pray to God to help us in all the work that we do as musicians. Take a minimum of 5 minutes and pray for this.
Now back to the show
Musician tips for gigging
Ahh gigging, you hate it, but it’s your number one source of income and exposure.
People get to see what you’re truly about in person and get to see a taste of what your music is all about.
On the downside it’s a lot of work preparing for a show.
On the upside, it’s the biggest advantage for a musician that there is.
It can also be difficult preparing for a gig especially when you’re brand new to the scene.
So without further ado, let’s talk about a few tips that you should consider when preparing for a gig.
Prepare plenty

I know this goes without say, but prepare for everything. You need to make sure that your voice is in tune, your guitars are working fine, you sound your absolute best because people will judge you based on what you are playing.
And there’s a saying in the military, it’s not Christian appropriate but I’ll give you the clean version, proper preparation prevents poor performance.
And it’s so true.
It’s true in music especially,
So if you’re going to go out on a tour or a show or something, you can do it, but just prepare the songs that you are going to sing by practicing them and really getting them down to a tea.
It’s one thing to make a song, it’s another thing to have it learned and practiced.
You’ll find as a beginner touring musician, that it actually takes a lot of practice to perform a song where you’ll get positive feedback from it.
If not, at least a few days of preparing the song.
Don’t try and sell out the garden when you can’t sell out the cafe.

So there’s this big misconception that honestly the media feeds us all the time, that musicians became an overnight success all at once.
That by some magical manner a big record label discovered them and then they signed on to the deal and they became this big success.
Well I’m here to tell you that it’s a load of baloney.
It’s really not like that, So what happens is that most musicians start out playing small venues such as cafes and talent shows before they move on to bigger venues.
And it’s understandable, you got to start somewhere right?
And then they move on to intermediate venues and then the big venues.
That’s the way that a music career is built.
So go out and start off small, and work your way up.
Create content

In this day and age, creating content will get you a good buzz around your music.
And that’s exactly what you need to do.
Create content on whatever social platform you choose: Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, A blog, a YouTube Channel, whatever it is, choose your platform and just stick with it and make a following based around your music and goals.
Like my goal was to share the gospel with the world through song.
I aim to glorify the Lord through music, and you can do that through content creation, and I do that.
You should also aim to create blog posts centered around your area so that people will find you in your area.
