Hey everyone! So today, We’re going to take a little rest from the daily grinding and talk about rest.

Before we get into it, let’s have our moment of silence.

At this time, I would like all of us to take a moment of silence and pray to God to help us to follow him throughout all of our days. Ask God to guide us more towards him each and every day. Take a minimum of 5 minutes and pray for this.

Now back to the show

My study on rest

So what happens is that lately, I was actually trying to decide for myself what days I needed to work.

The reason why is because I wanted to fit my church schedule into my work schedule.

And I was reading the bible and it was something that enlightened me.

It said, that God ordered the Israelites to rest on the 7th day.

And it was because God rested on the 7th day and God blessed the 7th day.

And I understand that.

But I was wondering about us as Christians. Are we supposed to rest on the 7th day?

Let’s take a look at this.

What the New Testament says

The New Testament says that though the law was given to the jews, it was meant to show what is holy and what is not holy.

It was ultimately meant to glorify the Lord God.

But since man could not accomplish this rule, the Lord God sent his son to die for us.

And it’s not a matter of picking and choosing which laws to follow, it’s a matter of praying to God to make you holy.

So let’s talk about the sabbath.

In the bible, it clearly stated that Jesus did do some works and allowed his disciples to work on the sabbath.

And when the pharisees went and tried to confront Jesus with what was going on, Jesus simply said that “God is Lord even of the Sabbath.”

And it was not counted as sin against the disciples or Jesus.

But Jesus was clear about the fact that people needed rest.

So In the New Testament, there were instances where Jesus told his disciples to rest and it wasn’t on the Sabbath.

Why? It’s because God knows our needs and our wants and understands the dynamic of the human body.

And Jesus told his disciples to rest from the ministry that they were doing, not from their 9 – 5 job.

So it shows that even ministers can rest from their daily activities and enjoy life too.

Now what is the purpose for all of this?

What happens is that when we get to heaven, we will have a rest similar to this.

This rest that we will have, will be a rest that will be guided by the Lord God.

And God wanted to prepare ourselves for this rest, by instilling a Sabbath for us to rest.

But does God know that there are soldiers and doctors and people who need to work on the Sabbath?

Yes he does.

Which is why he allows people to rest on different days other than the Sabbath.

So what I’m trying to say is.

Rest on the Sabbath if you can.

But I would recommend having at least 1 day to rest from your work that you do, whatever your work may be.

For the Lord does say that for 6 days you will work and on the 7th you will rest.

Which is why I am a big advocate for working for 6 days and resting 1 day.

I believe that everyone should have 1 day to themselves to be able to enjoy the fruits of their labor.

Because life is not all about work, work, work.

I imagine that with the work that you do, you would like to enjoy some of that money that you have earned and that the Lord has blessed you with.

Therefore, work to honor God and rest to honor God. and never forget that God will bless your hands even if you are resting.
