How to make songs from scratch?

Hey everyone! So today, I’m going to share with you all how to make a song from scratch.

From the songwriting process to the post production process, let’s take a look at how to make a modern song.

Before we get into it, let’s have our moment of silence.

How to make songs from scratch?

Music is very interesting in the fact that it is an art with nothing but sounds.

It is an art that using one physical sense. 

And the dynamic of music is that you can make whatever you want with music, yet they have to fit all in the same rules and boundaries. 

Anyways, I’m getting too deep in the subject, I’m here to tell you today, How to write songs that inspire, and change people’s lives. 

Let’s talk about it.

So the first thing you need to do in order to write songs is to be a musician.

The reason why I say that is because there are a group of people out there that think that you don’t need any musical abilities to write lyrics to a song, and actually it’s true. 

You don’t need any musical abilities to write lyrics of a song.

and actually I used to know a few examples of famous songs that were written with the lyrics first and the lyricist didn’t have any musical experience. 

But those are rare occasions.

In reality, it takes a lot more work as a musician as a whole than it does to be anything else. 

After all you’re called a songwriter, not lyricist. Even though there are specific job titles called lyricist. 

But if you really want to sell and get your name out there, you need to be a musician. 

You need to have experience singing a tune or playing the guitar.

As a songwriter, singing the lyrics is the most important aspect of it all.

But having a guitar or piano with you to accompany your music is actually just as important because how are you going to showcase your music with just an accapella version of the song? You need to bring the whole picture into the session.

So, before you go off and start to write some of your own songs, try and become a musician first and go through the process of being a musician. 

And that usually takes years to do.

Becoming a musician is the important part first and that takes years to do, so have fun the entire time because the journey is long and it can be very difficult, but don’t give up because it’s well worth it. 

And after you’ve become a musician, now it’s time for the next few steps.

Two for one learn about the songwriting process and production process

The next thing you need to do is to learn about the songwriting process and production process.

Songwriting and production are two different things. 

You can actually make a song entirely from producing it.

But if you want lyrics with it and melody, then they become two separate things. 

Songwriting is taking basic chords and simple melodies and lyrics and creating something amazing out of it. 

Production is adding the synthetic drums, bass, pads, and synthesizers to it all.

and that doesn’t even cover the whole dynamic of production.

Production could also encompass mixing and music theory. 

So learn how to songwrite and then learn how to produce at the same time and try and treat them as two separate entities at first and then mix them together once you’ve gotten good at writing songs and producing them. 

Post production

Post production is mixing and mastering.

I know that I said mixing could be a part of the production process but that’s a special type of mixing I can’t remember what it’s called, but it’s a type of mixing that’s different than mixing it for mastering.

Because when songs go into post production, they are actually preparing the mix for the mastering session. 

But the mixing that I’m talking about in the production phase is where you use effects to help create or even add to the song that you are making. 

I was learning about this the other day and I can’t believe I forgot what it’s called. 

So in post production, mixing comes first and then mastering.

Mixing is the part where you use effects and equalizers to balance out the song.

Mastering is making the song louder. 

In a very crude and bare bones manner, that’s what that means. 

I know some of you sound engineers are like, “That’s not what that is at all.” 

I’m just trying to explain in a bare bones manner, this article was meant for beginners, so chill out. 

Anyways, that’s how you make a song from scratch.

Now after you’ve known all of that, now what you have to do is go out and practice these things, it’s tough, but who ever said that good things are easy to get?
