Hey everyone! So today, I’m going to share with you all a music mistake that really had a negative impact on me and it’s actually all part of the learning curve of music.

Before we get into it, let’s have our moment of silence.

At this time, I would like all of us to take a moment of silence and pray to God to help us to work hard at the projects that he has given us. Take a minimum of 5 minutes and pray for this.

Now back to the show

A music mistake that cost me some skills

So what happened was that when I was a teenager, I was having a blast and a half playing music.

But mainly because it had become something easy.

So what happens is that Punk Rock can sound really technical and difficult to play, but in reality, it’s not that hard.

And what happened was that I learned a whole bunch of easy punk songs to play on the guitar and everyone thought it was all the rave.

Don’t get me wrong, I still learned how to play some metal songs and some more difficult pieces, they didn’t nickname me Slash for nothing.

But a lot of the songs that I did were punk songs.

And it was a lot of fun.

But what happened was that I saw this post on Facebook and it said, “If you don’t sound bad playing the guitar, then you’re not getting better.”

And when I got older I got what it meant.

It’s because guitar and music is a constant fight of sounding good and bad and eventually sounding excellent.

If you’re improving in music, then you’re going to sound bad.

And it’s just a part of music.

I had actually learned to play some pretty hard metal songs including their solos and I thought that it was enough to call me a great guitarist.

So I didn’t bother with learning more advanced things.

And what happens is that, that’s not right.

You’re supposed to keep going and keep sounding bad.

Because if you do that, then you’re going to constantly be getting better at the guitar.

I remember I Could do almost everything except some shred metal techniques. Which were my last phase before I could be called a heavy metal guitarist.

I could tap, hammer on, pull off, tremolo, the only thing I couldn’t do was sweep.

for those of you that don’t know about guitar, I think sweeping has been called one of the most difficult techniques you could learn on the guitar if not the most difficult.

And yeah, it was pretty cool.

And even sweeping I was starting to get down.

I could do like a triad sweep and a few chord sweeps, but I couldn’t incorporate it into improvisation and songwriting.

So the moral of the story is, to get better, you have to sound bad.

And don’t worry about all those people who say that you suck, because they probably don’t do half the things that you do.

anyways, just wanted to share this with you guys. Hope it was an encouragement.
