Hey everyone! So today, I’m going to share with you all how to make it in the music industry.

Before we get into it, let’s have our moment of silence.

At this time, I would like all of us to take a moment of silence and pray to God to guide our hands to become hard working hands. Ask God to help our hearts to get past all of the difficult things that we have to go through in life. Take a minimum of 5 minutes and pray for this.

Now back to the show

A quick guide on how to make it in the music industry

So what happens is that the music industry is interested in selling music.

And there is no other way around that in order to make a lot of money off of music, you need to be an exceptional musician.

But there is another element to the music world that not a lot of people consider when trying to find a record deal or even try to do something in music.

And that is popularity.

How popular are you amongst the crowd that you’re chasing?

Because if you’re really popular and have a great sound in music, you will go a long way in the music industry.

But without further ado, here are some of the things that I would say that you absolutely need in order to succeed in the music industry and more importantly get into it.

Great music

So like I said earlier, you need to be a great musician in order to actually make it as a musician.

But what does that mean?

That means spending hours upon hours of playing your instrument to practice and perfect your craft.

That means sacrifice.

That means giving a little part of yourself to the craft of music.

And when you dedicate these hours to music, you need to also do it for a long period of time.

You need to spend years practicing your singing, guitar playing, music theory, songwriting, etc. etc.

All of that practice will come in handy when you go out there and show what you have.

Remember that Rome wasn’t built in a day and that most musicians actually make it big when they’re in their 20s.

So if you’re out here and you’re just a kid, relax because there’s a good chance that you’re not quite there yet because you need far more experience in music.

So back in the day, I’m talking 50s, 60s, 70s, 80s, and maybe even 90s, the way that an artist would get discovered is that they would go around their local area and perform A LOT of shows in the hopes that they would get discovered by a promoter.

And if the promoter would like you, then they would be the one to take responsibility and get you signed to a record label or find new shows for you to get paid, etc. etc.

Nowadays, the music industry is different.

Since the rise of the internet, musicians have a new way to connect to audiences.

One of the ways that musicians can connect to their audiences is through social media: Facebook, twitter, instagram, blogging, youtube, etc. etc.

And what happens is that nowadays, the industry has seen that having a large social media following will in turn equate to a large number of album sales.

So now, if you want to send your demo or EPK to a record label or lawyer, then you should also include how many followers you have on your socials.

You should include how many views you’re getting on average to your blog and YouTube channel, because the bigger the audience, the better it will be for you.

Also, since the industry has changed, it would be best if you had proof that you can sell albums.

Which means that before you try and sign to a record label, you should have already sold a couple thousand albums.

And it’s not that hard to get your music on major streaming platforms, just go to your favorite music distributor and sign the contract that they give you.

Some music distributors will put your music on Itunes and Spotify for free.

That’s what I did to get my music on the internet.

And then after that, you need to promote your music like crazy across your social platforms.

For me personally, I’m promoting across my blog and facebook page.

It works, just give it a try and you’ll see for yourself.

But always remember to pray to God for help, for he will give you all the help that you need.

Afterwards, send in your EPK to a lawyer and ask him if you can get signed to a record label.

Remember that in an EPK, it’s important to showcase your highlights, so remember to take great pictures of your concerts, tell how many albums you’ve sold in your local area, tell how many fans you’ve got on your social accounts, and remember to give a great bio.

Remember how God got you there when you’re big.
