Hey everyone! So today, I’m going to share with you all some odd jobs that I did in order to establish my music career.
Let’s get started
The main job
I actually had a few jobs that I did before I actually got into my music career.
And I’ll be honest with you, it was by the blessings of God that I had the things that I had.
And there were actually two main jobs that I had that actually gave me the most.
The first one was sales.
Let’s talk about that first
Sales
So I did door to door sales as my first sales experience.
And let me tell you something that sales was a shock and a half.
Cause it was the first time that I had to learn to deal with angry customers as my clientele.
And I remember those first few weeks in sales, it was a nightmare.
I remember one day, it was a little cold outside but what happened is that a storm hit.
And I did not know that in my area rain could rain that hard.
And it poured like you have never seen it before.
And I remember I just stood there and I started to cry.
I literally cried for like a good 5 minutes because I needed the job and I wasn’t getting any sales and the customers were yelling at me and my manager was yelling at me to get sales.
No offense to my manager he was actually a really cool dude, it’s just that, that’s the nature of the job.
And on top of all that, it started to pour out rain like you wouldn’t believe it.
So my boss actually was very nice to me and he picked me up and he said, “German take a little break and just take it easy for now.”
And then he told me to get back out there and try again.
And so I went back out and I tried again, I think I got one sale that day, but the average is 2
And so, I remember in those days, I started to pray to God to provide for me.
And I remember it was a saturday, and my manager just looked at me and said, “German, if today was the last day of your sales career, would you do everything to make it big?”
And I said, “YES!”
And I prayed to God that day to provide.
And on that day, I had 5 sales
And my boss named me king of the neighborhood for that neighborhood we were in. He gave me a Burger King crown, and also 20 dollars cash as a bonus for getting 5 that day.
And sales has actually been the biggest cash contributor to my music career because every time I work in sales, it’s actually a pretty big payday.
But the Job that provided something more valuable than money was in the mental health industry.
Mental health industry
I actually worked in a mental health facility for about 4 years.
And they actually provided money but also certificates so that I could use it in the music industry.
They literally said, “German, If you want, you could pick up some music certificates and we could pay you for them, just as long as we can use them for the center.”
And I found one about music mixing and social media marketing.
The social media marketing certificate, the facility actually asked me to get certified in it.
But the music mixing one, I wanted to learn and it helped to create videos for the mental health facility.
I actually learned about balancing voices and how to use them for small video projects, which is perfect for our situation.
And it also worked for me, since I needed to learn how to mix music for my music career.
So these were the two jobs that actually provided the most.
I will never forget the valuable lessons that both of them taught me about how to care about your job and how to work hard at it.
