How to start a music career

Hey everyone! So today, I’m going to share with you all how to start a music career. 

Let’s talk about it

You need to make a lot of music

So it goes without say that in order to be a professional musician, you need to first be a great musician.

That means that if you’re going to be a songwriter, then you need to go and make a whole bunch of songs first before you go out and try and become a hit songwriter. 

Now there was a rumor that there was a famous musician that has made over 1 million songs. 

And it’s strange because that’s the kind of effort that we need to do in order to actually make it in the music industry. 

So go off and try and make a whole bunch of music first before you go out and try and conquer the world. 

God is the reason why we can make such great music in the first place anyways, so always go to him first before you go and try and make a music career. 

Promote your music and put it on ITunes and Spotify

So the next thing that you need to do is to put your music on all major streaming platforms and try and sell your music to the public by promoting it yourself. 

It’s not easy and it takes a while to get the ball rolling, but honestly, if you want to make it in the music industry, you’ll do a lot more intense work than that. 

I’ve shared before how to promote your music in depth on this blog in the past, but for the sake of this blog post, I’ll share the biggest thing that you need to do.

and that is to create content. 

I know that, that sounds too good to be true. 

But in reality, that’s the biggest thing that you could do to get your name out there and sell your music. 

Now how do you get your music on ITunes and Spotify? You could actually go and find a music distributor and they are really inexpensive. 

I personally get my music distribution done for free. 

The only thing that they do is that they take a cut from my music sales. 

That’s the only downside to it all. 

But in reality, it’s a small cut that they take.

A major record label would take 70% of all the earnings from an album sale. 

While the artist would typically get between 25 and 30% of all album sales. 

The music distributor that I use only takes 30% and I pocket 70%

So it’s really small to be honest with you and is a way better deal than what the major label people would give you. 

Promote in the right ways

So when you promote your music, you need to build a hype around the fact that you’re going to release new music. 

And you build that hype by performing and talking about it on social media. 

You perform your songs and talk about it on social media and that’s really how you build hype around it.

By the time that the album is released, people would be anticipating a great album because of all of the sneak peaks that you would’ve given.

I’ve actually reconsidered my song release every day for a whole 6 months. 

Instead I’m going to release a song every WEEK for 6 months because I’ll be honest here this is a lot of work and I can do it, but it will be tough. 

So right now, I’m going to kick off this songwriting session with a 6 song EP. I still haven’t decided what to name the EP just yet, but I will let you all know once it’s been released. 

I have 6 songs written already, and 4 of them fully produced. 

I need to mix them now and master them. 

The Lord will give me strength to finish this project. 

My first song, I’m not going to tell you guys what it’s about just yet, but I call the song as of now, “heart full of peace”
