Can you really make money in indie Christian music?

Hey everyone! Today, I’m going to share with you all some insight in the Christian music industry as a whole. And the short answer to the question above is yes you can make money with Christian indie music.

But the long answer, here it is.

Can you really make income with Christian indie music?

So, let’s look at some bible verses about this topic. 

Believe it or not, the Bible talks about musicians and their careers and God has a plan and a beautiful plan at that for them as well. 

So let’s look at a few bible verses. 

Proverbs 14:23 KJV states, “In all labor there is profit but the mere talk of the lips tenders only to penury.” 

So Solomon, who is the wisest and richest king to have ever existed, states that in all labor there is profit. 

Now it’s very important to understand something about this bible verse.

God had promised Solomon that Solomon would have wisdom that no man would ever have. 

And proverbs was a collection of some of the wise things that Solomon spoke about. 

And in that verse he states, “In all labor there is profit.” 

So you know that Solomon had musicians as servants right?

Solomon had singers and harpists and drummers and yet with all of those musicians, he still decided to say that in all LABOR there is profit. 

That means that he saw that even his musicians had money and lots of it too and he chose to say that in all labor there is profit because his musicians had a lot of money. 

And this same concept applies to other things as well: artists, chefs, painters, writers, doctors, lawyers, etc. etc. 

So this literally means that in all labor there is profit. 

So the Bible answer to this question is yes it is possible to make a lot of money as an indie Christian musician. 

It is very possible to make a lot of money through the indie Christian music market. 

Now let’s look at some present day statistics about indie musicians. 

According to DataUSA.IO the average salary of an indie musician is $58,583

And according to this data, that is the average salary if the artist were to work 44 hours a week. 

Imagine if they work around 70 hours a week like how artists usually are supposed to work. 

Then they would make even more, well at least that’s the theory. 

And now let’s look at the final question, can you make money in Christian music at all? 

Yes you can. 

One of the best selling artists of all time is actually a Christian musician. 

His name is TobyMac. 

And Rolling Stones named him as one of the best selling artists of all time.

So yes it is possible to make money in Christian music, it just takes work and effort and time. 

You will eventually get the gist of how music works, but it’s not going to be easy. 

Nothing good in life is ever easy.
