Have you heard of this new thing that musician’s can do?

Hey everyone! So today, I’m going to share with you all something new that a musician can do. 

Let’s get started

Selling shares of their own music

So I started doing some research into business and I found that quite a few companies go from million dollar businesses into billion dollar businesses by going public. 

Now going public means that they sell shares of their own company so that they can raise funds for themselves. 

I have read of quite a few different companies who follow this same exact method.

And I started thinking to myself, “can musicians do the same except with their own music? 

Now before I tell you what I found, I must add that I did not do extensive research into this topic. 

I just briefly skimmed the surface and found a bunch of neat things that musicians can do with their music. 

So let’s talk about it. 

Musicians can sell shares of their music

So musicians can now sell shares of their music through an online platform called songvest. 

But there are other platforms as well. 

And I think that they even don’t have a limit as to how much you can sell it for. 

But there is a minimum limit. 

The minimum is $20,000 dollars. 

But the limit as to how much you can sell is unlimited. 

Thereby you can raise money for your music projects by selling shares of your music. 

Now with that being said, I again say that I did not read into this too far. 

So what happens is that in a regular share selling strategy, the people who buy the shares can sometimes vote or speak their opinion on how they want the company to be run.

So in this instance with the musician’s I don’t know if people will have a say in how they want your music to sound like.

It is definitely worth finding out because we are talking about a lot of money here. 

But if you have a direct message that you want to share, if you have something special that you don’t want other people to be in charge of. 

I suggest that you stick to your guns and share the message that you want to share. 

Share the music that you want to share. 

If you have to give up creative control on your music, I mean you might as well just sign with a label right? 

I will find out more about this in the future and we’ll talk more about it.
