Can you really make money by only selling your music on the internet?

Hey everyone! So today, I’m going to share a little something that I think everyone wants to know about.

Money and Indie music?

So right now, I am a small music blogger, and when I say small music blogger, I mean less than a thousand views a month to my blog.

And even with my small audience. I have made 1 dollar with this past 2 months with my music. Yes I have made a couple hundred streams and I’ve managed to make 1 dollar off of my music.

To be honest with you I don’t know how I made that much because Apple Music has risen the amount of money artists make on their platform but it’s still only like 0.01 cents per stream, Oh wait I guess it does make sense, lol.

And I know that’s not a lot of money, but what I’m trying to get at is that I’m a small musician and I have that much. Imagine an artist who has hundreds of thousands of people visiting their blog or YouTube channel?

Yes I do believe that with music alone, you can make decent if not great money.

Even on streaming alone, I mean that pay raise that Apple Music did is actually really good. I mean 0.01 cent per stream. If you get 10,000 streams, then you have 100 dollars and believe it or not that’s actually a beginner indie music goal to achieve for. Getting 10,000 music streams to your music.

And to be honest with you, for me, my blog is currently growing pretty good, and I actually expect to sell at least a thousand albums when my blog gets big enough.

Well it’s a thousand EPs so that should be a big relief monetarily speaking.

But if I’m quite honest with you, even major label artists, like the Michael Jackson’s or the Taylor Swifts of the world don’t just make their money through their music. They also make it with their touring and actually that’s where they make most of their money.

So if your goal is to get rich, maybe album sales alone might not be for you.

But if your goal is to get decent money and live life cool, then yeah I think you can do it with your music alone.
