Hey everyone! So today, I‘m going to go over a few different methods in promoting music and my take as to which one is better for you.

Let‘s get started

Traditional

So traditional methods of promoting music include passing out flyers and performing shows and collecting people‘s Instagram, X, and Facebook accounts when you perform.

and those performing shows and starting a local following is actually the way to go if you want to get signed to a record label.

It‘s also the way to go to really test yourself and see if you can actually sell albums.

Performing shows takes a lot of effort, having to learn new material every week and finding venues to perform at.

It‘s a lot of fun too.

And it‘s the most effective.

Performing shows will get you the most fans and most listens to your music by far.

But it comes with a significant cost.

Having to go to different venues around your city can prove to be time ineffective.

And if you don‘t have a following around your city already, certain venues will not accept you to perform there.

Venues are there to help you build a following, but they are also there to sell shows and tickets.

Which means that you need to be able to bring a crowd to the show otherwise the venue will not let you perform.

Also, it can be a little difficult getting to and from every venue that you go to.

If you don‘t have your own car or aren‘t even old enough to drive in your state yet, then promoting yourself even to coffee houses can be difficult.

So I would recommend performing and passing out flyers to someone who actually lives in a big city.

Usually big cities have a great transportation system.

So that way you can get to and from your venues in a decent manner.

Also, big cities usually have a lot of venues that you can play at.

So it wouldn‘t take too much to get to a bunch of different venues.

But if you have a car and you have the resources to get to and from the different venues around town, then by all means, go for it.

I‘m just saying what‘s easier.

Internet ways of promoting your music

For the longest time, I actually did not have a car or even a license to drive.

And what happens is that Christian music actually requires a lot more traveling than a secular musician in the first place because there aren‘t as many venues for solely Christian artists unless they are big time venues.

So I really needed a car but I didn‘t have one so I had to make due with what I could do.

So I started researching the ways to promote your music on the internet and I found so many different resources that help you build a following around your music.

And I didn‘t live in a big city.

So I found the internet‘s way of promoting your music on the internet and ever since then, I just never went back.

I found a way to put my music on all major streaming platforms for free.

And I just promote my music online with my blog for now.

A little bit on X and a little bit on Facebook and even less on Instagram.

But My goal as of right now is to eventually sell around 1000 albums on the internet and just live by selling my music on the internet.

In case you‘re wondering how to promote your music on the internet, the key concept that you have to keep in mind is that you have to create a lot of content.

the more content you create, the better it will be for you.

And you have to create it consistently.

That‘s the key concept.

There is a phrase on the internet and the phrase is content is king.

So keep that in mind and you will go far.
