Hey everyone! So today, I’m going to share with you all how to learn music theory.

Let’s talk about it.

How difficult is music theory?

So there have been studies done in math and music and some math concepts resemble music so much because it all talks about abstract concepts.

In short, music theory is so difficult that some of the top musicians that you’ve ever seen probably don’t know anything about music theory.

Well they might know how to form a chord or how to sing a melody or even read sheet music.

But I’ll put it like this,

There was once a guitarist who tried to work with a famous band.

And the guitarist well trained and educated in music, went to this famous band and asked them, “Should we start off with a I IVvi V chord progression in the Key of E?”

And the band just looked at him and said, “What is that?”

And basically this guitarist just looked at them and asked them, “How do you write your music if you don’t know what I’m talking about?”

And the band just looked at him and said, “We just listen to what sounds good.”

And honestly, it’s a talent to be able to hear the music that you want to come up with, but it’s essentially so much more easier to learn music theory, than to have the ear to come up with songs.

With that being said, it’s not easy to learn music theory.

I was in a music theory class with a mess of talented musicians, one of them is in a band right now and he makes a lot of money by producing for heavy metal bands.

And all of these musicians couldn’t understand music theory the way that I could understand it.

I remember in my music theory class, Everyone had D’s and F’s, and I was the only one with an A in the class.

So this is just saying that music theory is hard.

But my music theory teacher said something interesting to me.

He said, “honestly, sometimes people can pick up music theory without knowing music. But the way to put it into practice is to learn music first and then learn music theory.”

So You need to learn music first and then learn music theory because that’s the easy way to learn it.

That’s the way to learn it so that you have practice and practical knowledge in music theory first before you learn music theory.

So honestly, if it was me and I had to do it all over again, I would practice my instrument like I’ve never practiced it before.

And then learn music theory.

But when you’re practicing music, you have to really diversify your rhythm and melody making and skills on the instrument that you want to learn on.

You have to enhance and learn new skills almost on a daily basis.

And then practice it.

So what happens is that there are almost infinite amount of things that you could learn on guitar and music and music theory, but just take a handful of things and just start practicing it.

It’s really that simple. Learn how to make a solo and make an interesting chord progression and a great rhythm on the guitar, it’s just a matter of practice.

And of course praying to God about the things that are out of your control.
