Hey everyone! So today, I’m going to share with you all a guide on how to make money as an artist.

Now before I give these tips, I’m going to give a little tidbit about these tips first.

Some of these things aren’t directly related to music, however, they are oh so important to take into consideration because the things you learn in life from sweeping the floor to create a project for a company, are all valuable tools in life for yourself and other people.

And trust me, that I have learned many things from many fields and I will say that almost all of it was useful for me.

So some of these jobs that I’m about to mention don’t have much to do with music, but I would say to do it well because it will prove useful and even if you’re just in it for the paycheck, the paycheck can increase.

Anyways, let’s talk.

First and foremost, the odd jobs.

So if you’re out there and you work.

You’ll know that there are many odd jobs out there.

From working in restaurants to working in construction, there are a multitude of jobs that you could pick from in order to get your first gig.

I remember when I was 18 I had just graduated high school.

And honestly, my whole goal was to go to college and work at the same time and work on my music along the way.

And I was working at a restaurant at the time and it was fast paced.

I remember I came home all tired and sad at the fact that I had to work there.

But I sucked it up and did the work for one whole year regardless.

I remember that I loved myself for keeping that job for one whole year.

I felt it was an accomplishment.

And I remember saying to myself, one day, I’m going to need all of these skills that I have today.

And sure enough, I’ve made coffees and smoothies for my parents and sisters and they loved it.

And not only that, but I learned how to clean really well.

One time, we had a whole bunch of dirty dishes at my house, and I told my mom, “Let me clean it.” and she said, “no it’s really dirty, I have to clean it.”

So one day, I just had enough of the dirty dishes and I just cleaned it the way that this restaurant told me to clean.

And my mom comes into the house and she says, “How on earth did you make the smell of food disappear?”

And I said, “Mom don’t you remember I used to do this at this restaurant, I know how to clean these big messes.”

And from then on, I would wash the dishes every once in a while.

And it helps.

It helps to have a good clean kitchen in your house. Because when you want to cook and you have a clean kitchen, it just helps.

The artistic jobs

Believe it or not, you can get some jobs being an artist of different types.

I’ve personally helped out a few of my friends with some photos that I took for their musician careers.

And they actually used it for their online accounts.

I’ve taken a few videos for a few of my friends and a few companies and yeah, it’s good.

Now, I must give a word of warning with these jobs.

It actually takes a repertoire of work that you’ve done for other people before people actually hire you.

And sometimes it includes doing other jobs for them first.

Because sometimes these kind of jobs will fall into the Project Management side of a company.

And project management is a ballpark on it’s own.

What you could do is create a YouTube Channel and post up videos and if the videos are good, then when you get hundreds of thousands of views, try and show your statistics to employers so that they know you can deliver.

The music jobs

So for the sake of this blog post, I’m not going to mention music teacher or music therapist jobs here.

I’m going to talk solely about entertainment music.

So say for example Producer, Songwriter, Mixing Engineer, Mastering Engineer, etc. etc.

The way you get into these jobs and make money, is by taking time and learning how to create awesome music and promote your music.

That’s really what it boils down to.

Making awesome music and promoting your music.

That’s really what it boils down to.

Take a few years and bite the bullet that you might fail, it’s true, we all might fail at this music gig, but you know what? If you pray to God about all of your projects, you can never go wrong.
