Hey everyone! So today, I’m going to share with you all someone who I looked at a lot when producing my own music.
Let’s talk about it.
So before I go any further
So before we go into the nitty gritty about this producer, I just want to share that I was not Christian all of my life.
There was a time in my life where I did not want God, I actually wanted to put God in second place in my life.
I remember in these days, that I would listen to whatever music I wanted to and without consideration to God.
So when I name this producer, the reason why I am naming him is because I am being honest.
I am being honest in the fact that this guy really influenced my music and I did have some worldly influences in my music.
I think at some point everyone’s going to have a worldly influence, even though it’s not ideal.
But I am just being honest and I know that the music that this producer makes isn’t Christian, but he was in influence in my music regardless.
Anyways, here he is.
Boi- 1da
So what happens is that I first heard about Boi-1da when I was in high school.
Apparently there had been a music producer that had won a major contest to get signed to a big record label and he was like 16 or 18 years old.
And if you know anything about music production, that is extremely young for a music producer.
You have to spend time mixing and producing music and to have the right equipment and skills at the age of 16 or 18, it’s just phenomenal.
There is a saying in the music industry that you are not supposed to mix for anyone unless you have 15 or 20 years of mixing experience.
And this kid, had to have mixed his own tracks because it’s part of a producers job sometimes.
So the fact that he had won this major production competition, just means that he was all that good.
And he actually went on to produce a few of Eminem’s songs.
Which at the time was one of my biggest rap influences.
I think he either produced or Co-produced most of Eminem’s songs on his Recovery Album.
And one of the songs that he produced was like one of the leads on Eminem’s album.
It’s quite a big feat to do as a young music producer.
Anyways, I went on to do some more research about this music producer and it turns out he was making it big in the rap scene.
He was producing tracks for everyone and anyone.
I was honestly studying his production techniques for a while if I’m quite honest with you.
That part is behind me
That part is behind me now, because I don’t listen to that music anymore, or at least that much anymore.
I’m trying to quit altogether because it’s really not music that a Christian should listen to, but if I’m honest, it just sounds good.
Sometimes it’s dark but it sounds good.
I’m trying to steer clear from all that now because it’s not holy.
But some of his techniques did stick on to me, especially because now a lot of producers use the same techniques that Boi-1da used.
It’s not like he invented something new, I don’t think so anyways, I think he just popularized some of the techniques that he uses.
