Hey everyone! So today, I’m going to share with you all my old studio and how it looked like, vs my New Studio.

Let’s talk about it.

My old Studio had better equipment

So what happens is that when I first started my music production journey, I thought to myself that I was going to focus on the basics and really get down to music production at it’s core.

I wasn’t going to learn tricks, though I wouldn’t be opposed to learn them.

But I was focused on building up the skills needed to actually produce great music.

And so I actually went and I did a little bit of research, mainly asked the guy at guitar center, which program would be great for music production.

And he gave me some solid advice, he said, “Honestly, man, any one of those programs can really teach you what you need to know.” So I said, “which one is great for beginners?” And he said, “Studio One.”

So I went and I bought the bundle pack for Studio One.

I bought the bundle and it came with a Diaphragm Condesnsor Microphone, an Interface, and a couple of cables and the software. Which is exactly what I needed.

The only problem was that at the time, I didn’t know how to use most of the stuff that I bought. So I went through a lot of trial and error trying to figure out how to use these different things.

And what happened is that later on I found out that the program that I had, was way more advanced than what I actually needed.

The only reason why I actually got that program was because it was cheap, but apparently even the cheap programs were OP.

So my old Studio consisted of those things.

Oh and my laptop.

My laptop at the time was the latest and greatest computer you could get.

At the time, it was the best on the market, “I7 quad core processor, 16Gb Ram, and 1 Terabyte of Harddrive.

I remember back then, my computer, all of my friends wanted to play video games on it.

And that’s my old studio

New Studio (AKA the Minimalist)

So what happens is that I went and I got a different DAW.

And I put it on my phone.

And actually that’s what I’m using right now as my hardware and software.

My phone and my new DAW.

My DAW is FL studio.

And I have a couple of mixing speakers that I can plug into to make the mix sound nice. (Yamaha HS5s)

But the thing about this is that, I actually know how to use this equipment now.

And what happens is that in my previous DAW, you could actually have around 60 tracks, which is useful in sometimes.

But now I have 24 tracks that I can use, and I actually know how to use them.

So I think it’s a fair exchange.

It would be nice if my current DAW could do 60 tracks, but honestly, I wouldn’t know if I would use the full capacity of that power all the time.

I know of some producers who layer like crazy so this wouldn’t be enough for them.

But I don’t layer a lot.

I do layer, but not a lot.

I will admit though, If FL studio had the ability to make 30 or 40 tracks, I would not complain at all about it.

Because I do layer and I’ve gotten to the most amount of tracks on any given song quite a lot actually.

But I have a DAW, and at the point of layering that I do, it’s a matter of artistic expression that I would be using to layer, not for quality.

I remember I once saw Charlie Puth talking about layering songs.

And he layered almost 10 tracks for just one part.

I mean at that point I would get it, FL Studio Mobile is just not enough for you.

But again, he’s a major label Artist, with Major label equipment, education, and skills.

Personally I’ve tried to layer like that when I had Studio one, But Honestly, I didn’t like the way it sounded, it sounded crowded to me. I don’t know how to explain it.

Anyways, that’s what I have for my equipment.
