Hey everyone! So today, I’m going to share with you all the way that I would become a professional musician.
Let’s talk about it.
Musician 101
So the first step in becoming a professional musician is by literally becoming a musician.
You can’t be the best musician if you’re not even a musician.
So pick up some lessons on guitar or singing or piano and start learning on how to play those instruments.
Or you can literally go out there and start teaching yourself how to play an instrument.
I personally taught myself how to play the piano, but that was after a few years of guitar lessons so I already had experience in music.
But pick up some lessons and start submersing yourself into the world of music.
You might think that you like music, but ask yourself honestly, Have you ever even heard an album from start to finish?
Have you ever even heard a song from start to finish?
I know I can’t remember the first song that I heard from start to finish until I was around 8 years old, other than that I would jump around on different songs and listen to my favorite parts.
Often skipping the bridge.
But you really need to ask yourself these things.
It’s okay if you haven’t done these things, but just start somewhere.
After you understand how songs work and listen to a few songs from start to finish, you’ll start to notice a few patterns in music.
That’s Good.
But learn the fundamentals in music and the fundamentals will turn into advanced things and then before you know it, you’ll be rocking the stage with hundreds of people.
But what about the business side of music?
The business side
So to be real with you, it takes years of practice and experience in music to become a professional musician.
But afterwards you have to worry about the marketing and business side of music.
You have to concern yourself with reading jargon and practicing something that could take up a lot of time.
You have to learn how to sell albums and sell music and perform at venues.
It’s difficult and challenging but it’s honestly all worth it.
If it were me, I would try and sell my albums from the start.
Not only does it help to market your business but it also helps to give you an income that you can count on depending on how hard you work on your music.
If it were me, and I was starting all over. I would gain some experience in music and start writing about music in a blog.
It’s going to take years for your blog to go anywhere anyways along with your music career, so you might as well start early.
Make a goal
Make a goal or a few goals for yourself so that your music can spread.
Right now I have a goal to average 1,000 views a month on my blog. It’s tough, but right now I’m half way there.
I’ve made a little more than 500 views a month for the past 2 months and yeah so far it’s going good.
The Lord is good.
One day, I will reap the rewards of all of my hardwork and it will be God who gave it to me.
