Hey everyone! So today, I’m going to go over how to know if music is your calling in life.

Let’s talk about it.

Music as your calling

So, there are various reasons as to why I know someone was supposed to meant to do something.

For one, if you’re extremely talented in one thing, It’s a good sign that, you were meant to do that thing.

I had a friend who was really strong.

Like physically strong.

And he was extremely talented in all physical activities.

He was in Track and Wrestling.

He would workout like you have never seen a person workout before.

And I just kept on saying to myself, “This man is either going to go to college and wrestle or he’s going into the military and serving.”

and sure enough, he went into the military and served for 4 years.

And that’s not the only thing either, he was in the Marine Corps and he scored a perfect score on the physical fitness test that he was tested on.

But he didn’t stay in, he did his 4 years and then got out.

But he was an infantry and man is that a hard job.

I had another friend, who was extremely intelligent.

Yet he was poor,

and you know what he went to go do?

He went out and became an engineer at an airplane company.

He was always good with Calculus and math.

He was good at science too.

So it just makes sense.

Now to you, you might feel like you don’t have talent.

But in reality, God gives us talents because he knows that we need them in life.

And a lot of the talents that we have, we need to work at it.

So if you’re a musician and you are having trouble figuring out what you need to do in life.

If you have a great talent for music, why not pursue music?

It’s not easy, but neither is college or earning a degree in Engineering.

And yet my friends went out and did the very thing that was very difficult for them.

It took me a while to figure out that I was going to do music.

The main reason was because I kept saying to myself, “Music just doesn’t make money.”

But after being in music for quite some time, I can’t say that anymore.

There are people out there who do amazing things with the money that they earn in music.

And like why can’t I do the same?

There is a stigma that says that musicians don’t earn money.

But those are from people that aren’t even musicians.

Where are the real musicians at? Where are the musicians that are actually earning money through music?

They are out there earning money through music!

But anyways, I’m getting a little off topic here.

The point is that this is one way that you know that you are meant to do music.

Is if you have a great talent for it.

If you pray about music to God

So an almost definite way to know for sure if you are meant to do music is to pray to God about music.

God is so good and perfect that he gives his people the things that they ask for if it uplifts his name.

And if you pray to God for anything in your life, you can get the things that you want.

I personally have prayed to God many many times throughout my music career to help me to make music, to help me to practice music, to help me to get better at music.

And honestly, if you pray to God about music, you will not regret it.

I personally believe that this is probably the most important thing that you could do.

Because there are actually a lot of reasons as to why you might never do music.

You might not do music because it’s too expensive or because you don’t have lessons, or because you might get injured and are forced to cut off a finger or your parents might die one day so you cannot get to your music lessons.

There are many reasons as to why you could not finish your music project.

But if you pray to God to help you to complete your music project, God will pave a way for you to complete your music project.

Last but not least, If you work with what you got and don’t give up

So what happens is that there are actually some tests that you should do to yourself to know for sure that you are committed to music.

For one, you could buy a cheap but good guitar and start teaching yourself.

Teach yourself how to play on a 70 or 80 dollar guitar and play the mess out of it.

I don’t care if that guitar doesn’t look the best, I don’t care if it doesn’t sound the best.

Play that guitar for 6 months with 30 minute practice intervals a day.

And when you practice, actually sit down and play the guitar, don’t just play, and then get something to eat, and then sit down, and then go and get something to eat.

But spend 30 minutes of quality guitar time and just go like that.

If you can make it past 6 months of playing the guitar every day for 30 minutes a day, then you have passed the trial period and it’s now recommended that you should take it a little more seriously.

You can also apply this same concept to any other instrument: Piano, bass, Voice, etc. etc.

If you apply this to your instrument, you will know for sure that you should pursue music a little more seriously, if you can improve that and turn it into 1 hour a day and then 2 and then 4 hours a day, then I would say you have found yourself your new favorite hobby.

Just remember not to give up your day job just yet because you still have a long way to go before you can make it as a musician.
