The three music production tips that will turn your productions into masterpieces

Hey everyone! So today, I’m going to share with you all some tips that I follow in order to get my music sounding really good. 

Let’s talk about it

Recreate a whole bunch of productions

So what happens is that there is a very common practice amongst music professionals where if you want to become a better producer, then it is your job to go out there and replicate a whole bunch of productions. 

The reason why is because with each production that you do, you actually learn how to do certain things. 

And if I’m honest with you, it’s true, and for each production that you complete, it’s actually a really big jump when you first start making beats and productions to like your hundredth production that you replicate. 

You’ll notice drum patterns and bass patterns and even certain patterns on where chords go. 

Music is actually very repetitive so you’ll notice that different artists use different things and you’ll naturally gravitate towards one production style more often than the other one. 

If you’re just starting out, I recommend just recreating the chorus because recreating the chorus usually has the most elements in the song. So if you learn how to create the most elements, you’ll learn the most. 

Afterwards you can try and recreate songs entirely. 

Know that there are only 4 or 5 effects being used in 90% of all music mixes

So what happens is that there are a ton of complicated videos on the internet trying to teach you how to mix a song and some of them might be true. 

Those industry professionals might be telling the truth. 

But understand that most if not all of the effects that they are using revolve around Compression, EQ, Delay, Reverb, and Sometimes Saturation. 

So learn how to use those fundamental effects and you’ll be Golden. 

The actual tough part of mixing music is learning how to hear for all of the details in the song. 

But all of that can be learned through time. 

So don’t worry about that. 

Lastly

Study melodies

A melody can really transform your song. 

Take your favorite songs and just study the melodies. 

Study how they rise and fall and how they change over the course of the song. 

There are General directions that you want to follow. 

There are some music producers and composers who think that the entire song revolves around the melody, so if that tells you anything.
