Hey everyone! So today, I’m going to answer the question that we always ask ourselves when writing in a blog.

Today, we’ll talk about word count.

Let’s talk about it

How many words?

So, I have been writing for almost four entire years.

And honestly, I find that writing all types of lengths of content is actually ideal for the blogger.

The reason why I say this is because it’s not so much word count that matters, it’s how many days in a row can you publish without stopping that really matters.

Like, me personally, I have written thousand and two thousand word blog posts on this blog.

And I have written those blog posts quite a few amount of times.

And I will say that they are probably some of my most successful blog posts that I have.

But I do also have tons of blog posts that are only between 400 and 600 words long and if I’m honest, it equates to a bulk of the blog posts that I actually put up.

And I have a pretty successful blog.

And even some of those low word count blog posts, I have them pretty high ranked on google.

So it’s not like you have to write big blog posts every single day.

The main point is coming up with good content consistently.

And yes I do take breaks from writing, but the great thing is that most CMS’ will come with a scheduler where you can write a whole bunch of blog posts on one day and schedule them to be released on different days.

Which is why I haven’t missed a day in blogging in almost 8 months.

Before then I wouldn’t take advantage of the schedule tool that was given to me.

But then I saw the advantage of doing so because now, I can take more breaks and keep content flowing.

Like right now, I have about a week and a half worth of blog posts already scheduled for the next week and a half.

So like yeah it comes in handy.

And it comes in real handy when you have an emergency.

Because what happens if you get into an emergency and you need to step away from the keyboard for a while?

Like what if a loved one is in the hospital and you need to be at the hospital for a few days?

I’m sorry guys, but if my mom is in the hospital, I think that I would put this on the side for the time being because I love my mom.

Which is great about the scheduler because if you run into some trouble, you’ll still be able to come out with content every day, at least for the time being.

Have enough content set out for at least 2 weeks worth of emergency’s.

The reason why I say 2 weeks is because FEMA actually recommends that you have at least 2 weeks worth of emergency supplies in case something happens.

Which could be anything from an Earthquake to a small power outage.

Right now, I ran into a busy time in my life.

I had around 3 weeks worth of content already setup for an emergency, but I was really busy these last two weeks and I couldn’t make content.

So now, I have around a week and a half.

But yeah, it doesn’t really matter how long a blog post you make (Back to the topic at hand)

Just as long as it’s not like 150 words long because that’s just too little words.

There was a recommended minimum for a while which was 400 words.

Which is the recommendation that I follow till this day.

Some people say it depends on different things too

Some people on the internet say different things too.

Some people say that it depends on how many blog posts you’re releasing a week.

Like if you release every day, then you’re supposed to make smaller articles because then you’ll overflow your audience with content.

Also, you run the risk of diminishing the quality in your blog posts.

I personally release once a day and I don’t see a problem with my audience even though I sometimes release thousand word blog posts.

I actually see that my thousand word blog posts are still my best performing blog posts if I’m quite honest with you.

So try and write every day at first and then use the scheduler.
