Hey everyone! So today, I’m going to share with you all how long it takes to succeed in music.

Let’s talk about it.

It varies but be prepared for a long slow haul

So what happens is that there are a lot of elements that go into a music career.

And though we all might want to focus solely on music, it takes a little more than just music to being able to make your music career happen.

I remember back when I was a kid, I had dreams of making it big in the music industry.

Little did I know that there are so many other different ways to make money through music and you don’t have to be just a chart topping artist in order to make decent income.

To be honest with you, the dream came in the form of being signed to a record label.

And I wanted to be signed to a record label so badly.

At the time, I didn’t even know what were the record labels that were out there. I knew I just wanted to be signed by a label.

But let’s talk more about the length of time that it takes to succeed in music.

The beginning

So when you first pick up an instrument, you are fairly uncoordinated.

You really don’t know what you’re doing and you’re all over the place.

So it even takes practice to even hold the instrument that you are playing.

I remember back when I first started the guitar, I couldn’t even hold the pick properly. I remember I couldn’t keep beat or rhythm.

Yes all of those fundamentals you need to learn because it’s all different to the human mind.

It’s one thing jamming out to your favorite song, but it’s another thing to perform it.

For a guitarist, you have to develop calluses so that your hands are good and strong enough to perform the guitar.

For a pianists you have to become more nimble with your hands on the piano.

It all has a learning curve.

At this point in your musician career, you already can play some pretty good songs.

And you probably have already invested around 5 years into your musicianship with classes and self-study.

You might be able to perform a solo, you could do a lot actually.

But there’s still some things that you need to do.

You need to start promoting yourself and you need to learn how to sing, if you haven’t already.

Singers make the most money.

So start a blog and take some singing lessons and you will learn how to become a better musician.

The final

You have now spent 10 plus years in the music field

You have now spent a great deal of time doing music and music related things.

Now, there are some people out there who say that only young and attractive people go into the major labels.

Which is true for some genres.

Like if you want to become a pop icon or a rap star, then you might need to be young, maybe no older than 30 or 33.

But there are a plenty of other genres where you could be older and still make it in the music industry.

And even in the rap and pop genres, you don’t necessarily have to be young, you should be focusing on making the best music possible.

Anything can really happen so don’t worry about not being the right age to do your dreams.

I know in blues and some genres of rock an older person might be preferred over a younger person.

The reason for that is because how can a young person tell you about the blues when they haven’t lived life enough to feel the blues right?

Some forms of country are better with an older person.

Don’t let age tell you that you can’t do something.

But understand that sometimes these things can take a great deal of time and effort and don’t be discouraged by your slow start.
