Why Every Musician should read

Hey everyone! So today, I’m going to share with you all why every musician should read. 

Let’s get into it. 

Why every musician should read

So I believe there is a saying that if you’re an excellent reader, then you’re an excellent writer. 

And as musicians, believe it or not, we are writers. 

We write songs and lyrics and poems and create visuals with our words. 

So as a musician, we need to be reading and filling our heads with books in order to really enhance our lyrics and our own spiritual needs.

As a Christian musician

As a Christian musician, our reading is often very easy, we read the bible and go off by what the bible says in our lives. 

And actually it’s very interesting that we need the bible to enhance our lyrics because the bible is filled with many illustrations that are all depicted by words. 

And it’s actually very interesting to take note that the bible has metaphors and illustrations that are just so powerful. 

So just by reading the bible, you could actually draw inspiration and motivation to make great songs. 

Reading other books are great, however

As a Christian musician, you will find that a lot of other books are actually filled with a great deal of sin. 

I actually tried to pick up reading a few years back. 

And yes I will admit some of the adult books were fun, however, they were filled with things that I didn’t agree with because of my own Christian faith. 

Like they had violence and sexual innuendos and I just did not like that they were using a good thing and using it for vain purposes. 

So I try and pick out books that I think would be great to read and would support what I believe. 

Like, I picked up a book about a Captain who helped the Irish when the potato famine was going on. 

I read about his interesting life and also the reason for him doing so. 

So, yes read, but don’t sacrifice God for the sake of reading a book. 

Because all of these books won’t mean anything if it’s leading you in the wrong direction.
