What is the most important thing that I need in order to record music at home?

Hey everyone! So today, I’m going to share with you all the most important things that you need in order to record music. 

Let’s get started. 

You need the know how

So more important than having the right gear or software or plugin is the ability to know what to do next. 

Story time

So what happened is that I had bought Studio one artist back in the day. 

This was around 2015, and what happened is that I did not know this, but this software was super powerful. 

It came with a great microphone, it came with an audio interface, It came with everything that I needed to record music. 

And what happened was that it was too powerful for me. 

For I did not know how to use any of it. 

It was a great learning experience for me for I learned how to control a DAW. 

But in reality, I was just not ready for that kind of power. 

But now, years later, I actually have a “simpler” DAW called FL Studio Mobile. 

It is not simple by any means. 

But I call it simple because it has less than what Studio One came with. 

And you know what? 

I make better music with FL Studio Mobile, than I do with Studio One. 

So it goes to show you that it’s not the gear that makes the musician, it’s the musician that works the gear. 

So you could have a Thousand Dollar version of Pro Tools, but what good is it going to do you if you don’t know how to use any of it? 

So, if you want to really know the necessities of a musician, it’s the know how on how to use the equipment that you have. 

And it could be the bare minimum equipment, you still need to know how to make it rock. 

For the longest time, I was using nothing but an acoustic guitar for all of my gigs. 

And now, I have expanded some of my equipment, but I still remain with a lot of the key elements that I used to use back then. 

DAW, Instrument of your choice, and voice

You need to learn how to sing or rap in order to make pop music. 

It helps even if you’re making instrumental music. 

A DAW for your music recording needs. 

And the instrument that you are most comfortable with. 

Trust me that there are going to be times where you’re just going to have to pluck away at the guitar. 

Or maybe key away at the piano.
