How to come up with new ideas for songs

Hey everyone! So today, I’m going to share with you all how to come up with new ideas for songs

Let’s get into it. 

Just start

So this is a pretty basic question and it’s viable for the beginner but it’s a little unlearned. 

What happens is that when you’re making songs, you should be an idea factory. 

You should just be spewing out with ideas as to what to write down next. 

And if you’re struggling to come up with new ideas, honestly, it’s never a good place to be. 

What happens is that at one point, songwriters are so good at their job that they can write down a hit in a matter of minutes and call it a day. 

But the thing about it is that you have to work to that level. 

You have to work up to the point where you can actually do that. 

You don’t just wake up one day and say that you’re a songwriter and start writing hits for people. 

It’s not like that. 

And it’s true that the best hits are often made out of inspiration.

But for every song that’s written out of inspiration, there’s 100 of your songs on your albums that was written off of perspiration which means you worked hard at that song. 

And when you start writing down ideas, it could seem as if though every topic you write about is already taken. 

But here’s what I do whenever I’m starting to write a song. 

I start off writing about love. 

I start off writing about the love of God. 

And then the song will evolve from there. 

What happens is that as humans, it’s actually really easy for us to write about love for some strange reason. 

It’s even recommended by songwriters to write about love because it’s easy to write about. 

So if it were me and I was starting writing songs all over again, I would write a whole bunch of Christian love songs that talk about the love of God and how the love of God is perfect and holy and just and you get the idea. 

Later on, you should start writing your own themes and topics. 

God is not limited to love. You can also talk about how God is a warrior. 

You can talk about how God is peace 

You could talk about how perfect God is. 

You could talk about what Jesus did on the cross. There are so many topics that you could talk about. 

and just start writing every single day. 

Write one song a day and if you don’t finish that song, then keep writing it the next day and start a new one that day too. 

It’s literally like that. 

Just remember your boy German when you’ve made your hits.
