As a Christian musician should I stay independent?

Hey everyone! So today, I’m going to share with you all some insight on the music industry.

Let’s get started.

So what do we know about the music industry?

To be honest with you, it’s well said in the music industry that the Christian music industry is not Christian. 

It’s well said that. 

There have been many musicians who have signed to major labels and who have broken the silence about the Christian music industry and they say what is the truth behind the Christian music industry. 

And the truth is that the Christian music industry is not Christian. 

And if I’m quite honest with you, I don’t find it hard to believe. 

And there’s a reason why I say that. 

The reason why I say that is because though the Christian songs that I listen to are great sounding and say true things about God, they don’t cover God in his entirety. 

Like yes God is love and God is great and God is here for you, but there are infinitely amount of ways to talk about God and it seems like the “Christians” in the Christian music industry are only talking about God in a shallow perspective. 

Like yes, the things that they say in the Christian songs are true, but it’s not the only thing about God that there is. 

Like just the other day, I came up with some lyrics and I’ll be honest with you, they talked about God in a way that I have never even heard of before. 

And just the other day, I was in church, and I learned about a great man of faith who I have never heard of before. 

In case you guys want to know who that man is, it’s Jepthae. 

You know how great this man was? When the Bible described him, it did not start with his problems, it started with, “He was a mighty man of valor.” 

And it’s unbelievable that I had never even heard of this man. 

And my Pastor put it as important that we were to understand that the Bible first describes him as something great and it’s important. 

But why is it that I have heard about David and Samson in the Mainstream Christian media, but never about Jepthae.

And I Continued to read about Jepthae and sure enough he was a man of God. 

And even so in the New Testament, it’s talked about him and how great of faith he had, how great is that?

The reason why we haven’t heard about Jepthae is because the Christians in the Christian media and record labels are too shallow. 

They only scratch the surface when it comes to writing songs about God. 

And they talk about true things with God, but it’s shallow. 

They talk shallow about God. 

I say that there are Christian musicians out there who know how to worship the Lord.I say that there are Christian musicians out there who have words that are righteous and perfect for the Lord. 

And we’re not hearing them because the Christian music industry is really only concerned about money. 

So should you stay independent?

I say yes, you should stay independent. 

The reason is because if you sign to a Major Record Label, they are going to want to take creative control over your music. 

And they are going to water down your music to the point where it comes to be just another Christian song on the radio. 

And I don’t personally think that that’s the way that the Christian music industry should be. 

Stay independent as a Christian musician, and God can and will use you in a great capacity. 

Trust in that.
