Hey everyone! So today, I’m going to share with you all a little something about money and music.

Let’s get into it.

So even with piracy and downloading music illegally, there is still a great way to make money through streaming

So what happens is that, it’s always been possible to make money through streaming, but it hasn’t been the best possible money that you could earn.

I think one time, there was an interview with Snoop Dogg, and he said that in the early days of streaming on Spotify, he had amassed nearly a billion streams and he had only received 40,000 dollars.

Now that, I guess you would say is not a feasible way to actually earn a living.

However, there is good news for the musician out there.

Streaming platforms are starting to pay more per stream

So what happens is that musicians just recently took to protesting the streaming companies and they were successful.

And as a matter of fact, I would say that they were highly successful.

Because they protested that the companies are making a big profit off of their music and the artist is left starving.

They demanded fairer pay for artists.

And what happened was that, Apple Music actually came out and started paying a penny for every stream that you get.

Which, if I’m honest with you guys, it’s a lot.

I know it doesn’t seem like much, but if you were to take a billion streams like Snoop dogg and multiply that by a penny. Then in the course that Snoop Dogg’s catalog was on Spotify, it would have made him 1,000,000 dollars.

And that’s just off of Apple Music.

There is still Spotify, Amazon Music, Google play, and like 34 other major streaming platforms.

And it’s getting better,

It’s actually not just a penny that Apple Music is paying to artists,

It’s actually more like 0.00145 cents per stream that you’re getting paid in Apple Music.

Which is success for the musician.

And I think just recently, if you wanted to make 5,000 dollars off of Apple Music, people were saying that you just need 640,000 streams.

Which shouldn’t be that hard if I’m quite honest with you.

Of course it’s no walk in the park either.

Your hooks have to be on course, your rhythm has to be impeccable.

But in all reality, there are indie musicians out there that are getting around that many streams in a single month.

So if you were to release a song every month and promote it on your socials and blog and YouTube channels, well then you should be more than fine with your money earning abilities.

And if you sum this up to per year.

You would be earning around 60,000 dollars JUST OFF OF YOUR STREAMING.

I mean like, there is a saying in the music industry, “The music sells itself.”

why? It’s because if you make a song good enough, people will want to listen to it again and again and again.

Therefore, if someone hears your song and they really like it, they will listen to it more than once and you will get paid for each time that they listen to it.

What does the Bible say about all of this?

Proverbs 14:23 states, “In all labor there is profit: But the talk of the lips ten death only to penury.”

Do you know who wrote this?

The person who wrote this verse was promised by God that he would be the wisest and richest person to ever live.

This is King Solomon.

And it was stated that his net worth as of a few years ago, was more than 1.2 Trillion dollars US dollars (In today’s currency)

and he still chose to write, “In all labor there is profit…”

Why?

Well he had artists, he had musicians, he had soldiers and servants and writers and teachers.

And he still chose to say that, “In all labor there is profit…”

That means that he saw that no matter what career you picked, you could’ve made money and good money too.

So what does this mean as a Christian musician?

It means that we are not bound by limits,

and as a matter of fact, the only thing stopping us from earning a decent wage in music, is ourselves.

For God has promised something in the Bible and that promise was meant for those artists and musicians and writers and creatives.

He promised that no matter what you do, you could make money in it.
