Should you use a blog for music promotion in 2025?

Hey everyone! So today, I’m going to talk about why you should use a blog to promote your music. 

Let’s get into it

It’s faster than video production

So what happens is that there is a common practice amongst self promotion with musicians that you should be coming out with new content every single day. 

In one way or another, you should be coming out with new content. 

And personally, I could make an hour long video describing my music production process, but what happens is that it takes such a long time to edit and prepare what I’m going to do that it just takes away from the other things that I need to do. 

I also need to be making blog posts and I need to be making music. 

And honestly, it’s just a busy schedule that I have. 

But the reason why I say to make blog posts is because it’s actually faster to edit and proofread your articles than to make a whole video, especially if you get down the process really fast. 

Like personally me, I could probably finish a blog post within between 20 and 40 minutes and finish editing it within like an hour and have it published or scheduled within that hour too. 

But with a video, You have to prepare the video first and then you have to rehearse what you’re going to say in front of the camera. 

And that’s something completely different. 

I remember just recently I made a small video on Instagram and the video itself was around 3 minutes long. 

But it took me from start to finish around an hour to record the best takes and edit them and add the music to it. 

It just takes so long.

Now imagine if you have an hour long video that you need to make. It just takes too long! Lol

Yes making blog posts is so much faster. 

You still gain visibility on the internet

So what happens is that for optimal visibility on the internet, it’s actually best that you use a wide array of social media marketing techniques. 

So that includes a blog and Instagram and Facebook. 

So if you’re using Instagram and X, it’s a good thing. 

But incorporating a blog can boost the amount of views that you get to your social channels as well. 

So don’t forget about long form content because they can actually help you as well. 

It’s fun

Sometimes even when I’m writing about educational content, I feel like I’m writing in a journal entry and it’s actually therapeutic. 

It feels like I have a voice on the internet and people are listening to my voice. 

Sometimes, I even include Diary Entries into this blog

Of course keeping it professional. 

Never getting out of line with professionalism. 

But it is fun.

I feel important writing these blog posts. 

I feel like I’m doing something big with these blog posts. 

It’s beneficial to you in developing writing skills

There is a saying and it says that the people who control the world, are writers. 

And I’ll be quite honest with you, I think it’s true. 

The people who really are in power are the people who learned how to write and to read and to educate themselves. 

And writing is such a beneficial skill for you as a songwriter or business owner that you need to make it happen. 

Not only will it help your songwriting skills, but it will help your technical skills that you will need to navigate any business venture that you need. 

IN conclusion, you need a blog

Blogging is great, blogging is helpful. 

And if you want to make a big impact in your community, you will learn how to write and make written content. 

Be sure that you are always trying your best at all of the things that you do and you will never go wrong.
