Hey everyone! So today, I’m going to share with you all a blog post about persisting in music.
Let’s get into it.
I’m still going to persist
I don’t know if I’ve developed a workaholic mentality, but I feel like doing this music gig part time and working my day job are all good things.
Idk.
I know that some of you might say, “Oh but German, you don’t make that much money doing music anyways, why bother keep doing it?”
Well if I was in it for the money, which partially I am, I wouldn’t be doing this.
Because what happens is that there comes a moment in every musicians career where he asks himself, “Is this even worth it?”
And to be honest with you, there comes a point in a musician’s life where he is ready to settle down and he’s ready to take on the responsibility of a family and kids.
However, it’s important to note, that though this might never make a full time income, it could indeed in fact make a great part time income.
And so, if you really were to look at it, quitting the music gig shouldn’t really be on your mind because it can pay for at least some of the bills.
They say that the average musician actually makes around 60,000 year.
That’s not that bad money considering the fact that the poverty line is around 32,000 for a single male.
So like you’re making double what the poverty line is supposed to be.
And I’m going to be quite frank with you, if you really want to work hard at this gig, you really need to be doing more than one thing.
Like you can’t just do music, you have to be able to change and adapt to any circumstances that may arise.
So yes, that means that as a musician, you have to get a day job. Something that will cover the bills and some of the expenses that are required of a musician.
Like who’s going to pay for your phone bill? Who’s going to pay for your food?
Who’s going to pay for your laptop or your recording sessions or all the various other aspects that come with being a musician?
But what about income?
I will be honest here again, like I know you guys have seen on the internet of dudes in their 20s who are making millions of dollars per year.
I know that you have seen those people on the internet who have lived the luxurious lifestyle.
However, for one, you don’t know if they’re lying, right?
I mean sure it might look convincing, but I ‘ve made videos that have gained 30,000 views in a single month with just my Iphone and my Ipad. So like, it’s not hard to make videos that look like that, it literally just requires a little bit of know how.
And you should keep in mind, that the majority of millionaires in the United States, are actually around 60 years old.
There are around 13,000,000 millionaires in the U.S., however, you should know that a majority of those people are over the age of 60.
Like do you see how unrealistic it is for you to expect yourself to earn a 6 figure income by the age of 20 or even 7 figures by the age of 25.
No, in all reality, it takes years of dedication and effort to actually call yourself a millionaire.
So when they say that the average musician earns 60,000 dollars a year.
I mean, that’s really good for you musicians out there, that means that you just have to work hard at your music, and you can make it.
And the great thing about music is that you can start it at an early age.
Like a lot of jobs actually require you to be older for you to start in it because of all the legalities that revolve around the job.
But with music, you can start playing the guitar as soon as you’re able to.
So in all reality, if you really did focus in hard on music from an early age, you could in theory make 60,000 dollars a year from your music by the age of 18.
It takes a lot of work though, I’m not going to lie. But you can do it.
So work hard at your things, and you will get the results that you want.
